Why? I'm a self-published author and this is my job. Why so inexpensive? A couple of reasons:
- 80% of my readership is outside the US. Wattpad lets me reach that audience.
- I turned down three book contracts. Hinovel, Popink and Goodnovel. Why? Because the terms of the contracts were unacceptable to me. I'd rather fully own my work and the copyrights thereto. Their pay was going to be bad, but that was not the reason.
Each organization was trying to co-own my work. 19 novels at this writing and counting.

One is not supposed to release the terms of the contract once you sign, but I did not sign. I never agreed to not release their terms and conditions. One of them refused to send me the terms until I agreed to sign. Warning bells!
I am still not going to copy out the terms, other than to say I found them predatory and I would not do that deal.
If Wattpad tried to do that same kind of thing to me? I'll put it all on Amazon for paying customers and give it away from my web page above, for those that can't afford it.
