Chapter 14

"Amy?" Meredith whispered as she had woken up but no one replied. She was way too warm because of the long sleeved shirt "Amelia?"

But no one responded. The girl quietly started crying. She wanted to get out of the bed and go find Carolyn and Christopher so she grabbed her crutches weakly and had to adjust to not wearing her braces while walking

She knocked on the door but must have lost her balance as she struggled to knock with her crutches and fell on her butt

"Meredith?" Christopher ran outside as he heard what happened. When he opened the door he saw the small blonde girl crying. He immediately lifted her in his arms and walked downstairs to not wake up the others

"Too warm" Meredith muttered in Christopher's arms

"Oh sweetie" Christopher took off her shirt for a minute, immediately seeing her skin on her chest was irritated. He grabbed some cream and put it on all the red marks

"I'm tired" Meredith whispered

"I bet, maybe you should sleep in our room for tonight, it's much cooler in there" Christopher said

"Kay" Meredith nodded as she rested her head in his chest

Christopher helped her back into the long sleeved shirt and carried her upstairs, situating her in between his wife and himself

Carolyn woke up and saw Meredith laying in her bed, she wondered what had happened and how the girl had ended up with them. She saw her husband was awake and started to ask questions

"What happened?" Carolyn asked as she brushed her hand through Meredith's long and blonde hair

"She was too warm, her skin was irritated as well, probably from sweating. I brought her here because our room is much cooler" Christopher explained

"Poor thing" Carolyn sighed "She's wheezing slightly, I think we have to be careful" Carolyn rubbed Meredith's small back

"I'll go grab her meds and I'll make sure she can nebulize on the couch" He quickly said and got out of the bed, Carolyn scooped up the girl and carried her downstairs

Carolyn sat down with Meredith in her arms and Christopher strapped the mask over Meredith's head and turned on the machine

The girl was buried in Carolyn's arms for the meantime

"Morning" The two boys walked in. Derek with a smile first, followed by Mark that was yawning and seemed to be tired still

"Morning boys" Carolyn smiled

"Is she sick?" Derek frowned

"No, she's just a bit wheezy" Carolyn explained as she held the mask against her face

"Morning Meredith" Derek smiled

"Morning" Meredith muttered as she looked at the two boys

"Morning Mer" Mark smiled as well and took a seat on the couch

Hours later Meredith was asleep on the couch in Carolyn's arms while the kids were playing outside

"Hey, is she still asleep?" Christopher walked inside

"She is" Carolyn confirmed

"Mama?" Meredith muttered

"Hey munchkin. Did you sleep well?" Christopher tickled her softly

"Hi" She giggled "I did" She nodded but seemed to be a bit short of breath. Christopher handed her the inhaler and waited until she was done
