Chapter 27: Discharged

It's now morning of the next Day. Allegra is signing the discharge papers for Emilia while she changes and gathers her belongings.

David payed the hospital for damages from the fire and kept all of Arthur's actions out of the news. He held a quick funeral and had the body cremated. He was demoted to the Assistant Director of the Kansas City Interpol Office.

School was closed for the next three days and a memorial event was to be held for the students who were killed.

Emilia, Allegra, Bella, Lexi, and Matei are now driving home from the hospital. While everyone else is at home discussing while eating breakfast. Sofia has already gone to school.

Stefan: "So what'd you find out dis he actually kill himself"

Adrian: "There's no evidence of someone else lighting him on fire, but at the same time his dad was pretty quick to cover it up. You think he could've done it?"

Marco: "Maybe, just let it go for now, Emilia's been discharged and they're on their way back now"

Lucian: "How's she doing"

Marco: "Physically she has a clean bill of health mentally i don't know, based on her statement to the police, he didn't hurt her or anything but I mean on the bridge he held her at gun point. Let's just keep an eye out"

A little while later Emilia arrives home to be greeted by an army of hugs to which she flinches at.

Stefan: "Can I ask you something"

Emilia: "yea what"

Stefan: "Why do you always flinch when we try to hug"

Emilia: "I've only been living with you for like 3 or 4 months. Before that day I've never even heard of you. I didn't even know you existed."

Stefan: "but we're your family and we're together now"

Emilia: "But we weren't always. I was perfectly fine with my life before I met you. You can't expect me to just conform to this idea of a sister you've all had for years."

Stefan: "It's just a hug is it really that hard"

Emilia: "I've never liked hugs, always hated them. If you really care about me you'll respect my boundaries. I'm exhausted, I'm going to bed.

Emilia walks off and goes to her room.

Matei: "she's right you know"

Marco: "what do you mean"

Matei: " you guys always talk about how she used to be what she was like when she was a child you're still trapper in that mindset you forget that there's a completely different person right in front you"

This was eye opening moment for the family. Never had it occurred to them that the Emilia they found might not be the same as the one they lost.

Bella and Lexi go into Emilia's room

Bella: Hey you okay

Emilia: "Yea just exhausted"

Bella: "I'm proud of you, you know"

Emilia: "why"

Bella: "You told them how you really feel for once, and it may not seem like it to you but you saying that shows you're warming up to them. If it had been a few ago you never would've said that so yea I'm proud of you"

Emilia: "Whatever"

Lexi rolls her eyes

Bella: "well we'll leave you to get some rest"

Emilia: "thanks"

Bella and Lexi go to their individual rooms

Bella is thinking about Emilia something's up with her she's pretending to be more fine than usual

Lexi goes into her closet and removes a false floorboard. She takes out a secret phone she had hidden and calls someone named Uncle I. K.

Uncle I.K: "Did something happen"

Lexi: "No,She doesn't suspect anything, just thinks I'm being arrogant"

Uncle I.K: "Be careful don't let her get suspicious. I'll let you know when its time. Has she said anything about him"

Lexi: "No, but she defends him. she gets pissed if one us talks shit about him."

Uncle I.K: "I heard about the triplets, how'd that happen"

Lexi: "How else she stole something from him didn't tell us and he wanted it back"

Uncle I.K: "Alright, make sure she doesn't figure anything out" Hangs up
