"You shouldn't push yourself, don't exhaust yourself right before your mission starts,"

Susie nudged her glasses further up her nose, eyes glued to Johann as he pressed on with his exercise. He had appointed her in charge of his physical data for the day to help him keep track of his progress. At the end of spring, the newly formed Ace Team was to set out for their mission in Japan.

"Don't worry about me," Johann replied, his smooth voice wrapped around her like warm silk. His gold eyes remained focused as he stared straight ahead of him, barely breaking a sweat despite the intensity of the exercises he's been doing.

With him being so busy with schoolwork and sparring throughout the day, the only time Johann had time for himself to train was during the night. He was content with that fact though, especially when he trained outside. The night air helped keep him cool, thus allowing him to train even longer.

Usually, he would keep track of his progress on his own if he wasn't already training with Y/N, but Susie had come to him during lunch hour, offering her assistance. At first, Johann declined politely. But for some strange reason, Susie insisted that she'd help him with his training. Therefore, he gave her the only task of recording his data and stats while he trained.

As the Vice President of the Lionheart Society and usually working as Johann's assistant, Susie was used to his silence and short replies. She prided herself in being a hard worker, she did all that she could for Lionheart and the college alike. But to say she was doing it out of the goodness of her heart would be a lie.

It was no mistake and a good reason that Susie was titled the most sought-after girl at Cassell College. But that name did nothing for her ego, in fact, it only made her feel further away from the only person she wanted to look in her direction.

At first, she was flattered. Johann was sought after by nearly all the girls in the college. There was a period of time when the students even assumed that she and Johann were secretly dating. There was a sliver of hope where she believed that those rumors would one day turn true, but Johann remained distant and unperturbed.

"Don't you think it's time to head back?" Susie questioned as she jotted down more notes for Johann to examine later. "I can make you something quick to eat before it gets too late,"

Johann was in the middle of doing consistent push-ups before he finally reached an endpoint. Susie handed him a rag and as he stood up from the mat on the grass, he used the rag to pat down the minimal sweat on his face. The basketball tank he wore did nothing to hide his well-defined, muscular arms. Susie did her best to avoid staring.

"No need," Johann declined, much to her dismay. "Y/N should be on her way with something for me. I appreciate the offer though,"

He had always been polite and well-intentioned whenever he let someone down, but this time, it felt like a deep jab in her chest.

"Oh..." Susie quietly trailed off. Her eyes shifted from Johann's ethereal figure to the grass. "Are...are you going to be training her?"

"Not tonight, I'll be helping her study for an upcoming genetics exam," he answered quickly.

Susie resisted the urge to let out a deep sigh.

Did she ever have a chance with him?

She had known him since their first days at Cassell College. Ever since being appointed Vice President of Lionheart, and spending so much time with Johann, Susie had thought she knew him better than anyone. To the point where she could almost assume every reaction he'd make to certain situations.
