Your footsteps echoed through the hallways of the abandoned hospital. While Dazai quickly started falling into the lead, Atsushi walked behind him so he could get close to you. No matter what you all were destined to find in this place, he'll be ready to protect you. Meanwhile, Kunikida fell behind, a terrified look on his face as he hugged himself out of fear.

Atsushi commented, "it's really creepy in here, isn't it?" Glancing at Kunikida, you thought, you could say that one again to him, Atsushi...

"I think it's refreshing actually," Dazai exclaimed, "really gets my blood pumping."

Kunikida scowled, "you better not have eaten another weird mushroom."

You looked behind you at Kunikida in confusion. You raised an eyebrow and asked, "weird mushroom?"

After Atsushi let out a large sigh, Dazai explained, "It was another suicide method that went wrong. The poisonous mushrooms I ate just turned out to be the hallucinatory type. I actually read about it in my book, A Complete Guide to Suicide. Y'know what, (Y/N)? You should read it again! It has some wonderful ideas for some first dates there!"

It was now Atsushi's turn to be confused. He looked at you and questioned, "what does he mean by 'again'?"

"He's already forced me to read it to him four times in the past as a bedtime story," you sighed, turning to Atsushi with a defeated look on your face.

"Wait," Atsushi exclaimed, "bedtime story? Are you two sure you're not dating or anything?"

Dazai grinned at Atsushi and answered, "unfortunately, not yet! We will be in the future though if everything goes according to plan. You see, sometimes I ask-"

"Force," you interrupted. Despite this, Dazai continued with his explanation.

"-(Y/N) to come over to my dorm and comfort-"

"Cuddle and read your suicide guide to-"

"-me because I don't like sleeping alone-"

"Because you're horny and need someone to flirt with and make suggestive comments to."

"-which can be seen as a bedtime story." Dazai's grin only grew wider at that.

"Oh," Atsushi mumbled, "I see." Should he step up his game? Should he accept the fact that he has no chance? What is his next move? Why did love have to feel so refreshing yet heartbreaking at the same time? The queen has checked his king, and now he just needed a way out if he wanted to stand a chance at winning this game of love and heartbreak.
