Ch 4

An hour passes and Carly returns to her apartment

She sets the stuff down on the kitchen counter and walks over to the fridge, grabbing a water bottle. As she does, Maddie walks into the kitchen

Maddie: "Are you okay, you don't look so well"

She places the back of one of her hands on Carly's forehead 

Carly: "I'm fine, it's just the new medication like I said yesterday"

Maddie: "why don't you take a seat and rest, you shouldn't push yourself"

Carly: "babe I'm fine"

Maddie: "no you're not, sit"

She sits Carly on the couch

Carly: "I hate this medication a lot. The doctor said that I should get used to it by next week but I hate it. It makes me sick and I lose my appetite because of it" 

Maddie: "hey, but it will help"

Carly: "I know but it just makes me exhausted adn nauseous every time I eat"

Maddie: "but you were able to eat yesterday"

Carly: "yeah but I got up at least 3 times in the middle of the night to use the bathroom or to throw up"

Maddie: "Carly, why didn't you tell me?"

Carly: "I didn't want to bother you"

Maddie: "you don't bother me... really"

Carly leans against Maddie's shoulder

Maddie: "is it acting up?"

Carly: "mhm"

Maddie: "We can just stay inside and do nothing if that's what you want to do"

Carly: "you said you wanted to go out with your friends today"

Maddie: "I did but you're more important than hanging out with my friends"

Carly shakes her head

Carly: "I'll be fine on my own. Go out with your friends, they want to celebrate your birthday"

Maddie: "Are you sure?"

Carly: "yes I'm sure"

Maddie: "okay but until I have to start getting ready, I'm staying with you"

Carly: "thanks babe"

Maddie: "do you want to watch a show?"

Carly: "I guess"

Maddie: "We can watch your favorite show, Grey's Anatomy"

Carly: "yeah...my favorite show"

She takes a sip of her water

As they both watch Grey's anatomy, Maddie's phone starts to ring

Maddie: "hold on, I need to take this"

She gets up and walks out to the bedroom, leaving Carly alone in the living room.   Carly sighs and starts to fidget with a string on her hoodie

Carly: "just breathe, just breathe, just breathe"

Maddie walks into the room

Maddie: "it turns out my friends want to meet earlier than I thought. I'm going to head out so I can get ready at my house"

Carly nods

Carly: "Okay, I'll see you after"

Maddie nods
