Ch 19

Carly: "are you excited to go home for break?"

Lizzie: "I am, I haven't seen my sisters or mom since i left for school. Yes we talk but it's not the same. Are you?"

Carly: "yeah I am, my sister and I are really close so it's been hard being away from her. I am also excited to meet up with some old friends"

Lizzie: "and your parents?"

Carly: "who cares about them"

They both laugh

Lizzie: "I need to use the bathroom, I will be right back"

Carly nods and Lizzie gets up, making her way toward the bathroom

As Carly is waiting for lizzie, her phone starts to buzz. Sliding her phone out of her jacket pocket, she sees it's from Maddie

Maddie: "just landed. Parents are picking me up soon"

Carly: "how was your flight?"

Maddie: "it was good. We did have some turbulence"

Carly: "nervous about your family gathering?"

Maddie: "a bit. I know there is going to be arguing during thanksgiving dinner"

Carly: "once again, if you need to talk or anything, just call me"

Maddie: "thanks, baby. Are you nervous about your flight tomorrow?"

Carly: "a bit, not a huge fan of flights. My sister 

is picking me up from the airport and she's taking

 me to my favorite restaurant which is the plus side of it"

Maddie: "of course all you can think of is food"

Carly cracks a smile, reading the text. They both continue to text as Carly waits for Lizzie to return to the bathroom. A few minutes later, Lizzie returns and sits next to Carly. Noticing Carly is smiling from cheek to cheek, she asks about it

Lizzie: "what's got you smiling like that?"

Carly: "just a message Maddie sent

Lizzie: "she landed already? 

Carly; "yeah, not too long ago"

Lizzie: "can I see the message"

The older friend slides her phone across the table. Picking up the phone, Lizzie reads the heartwarming message

Lizzie: "awe, adorable. What i would give to have a relationship like you both"

Carly: "in time you will find someone"

Lizzie: "I doubt that, last time I dated someone was in high school and he was an ass"

Carly: "Lizzie, don't say that"

Lizzie: "about the guy or me dating"

Carly: "obviously not about the ass you dated in high school"

Lizzie: "well I think it's true, I don't think I will find anyone soon"

A waitress walks over to the two friends with their food

Waitress: "I have a french toast combo with sausage"

Carly: "that's mine"

Waitress: "here you go"

She places the plate of food in front of Carly

Waitress; "and here is your cheese, mushroom, spinach, and tomato omelet"

The waitress places the plate in front of Lizzie

Waitress: "is there anything else I can get for you ladies?"

Lizzie and Carly look at eachother than at the waitres

Lizzie: "i think we are good"

Waitress: "enjoy your food"

The waitress walks away leaving the two friends to continue to talk

Carly: "do you have any other plans while with your family?"

Lizzie: "I'm not sure. If anything comes up, I'll probably do whatever"

They both laugh

Lizzie: "what about you?"

Carly: "my sister and i are probably going to go hiking in Hollywood. We were supposed to do it last year but I broke my leg the day before we were supposed to go"

Lizzie: "how?!"

Carly: "best not to say"

picking up her coffee mug, she takes a sip of the coffee as Lizzie playfully rolls her eyes

Lizzie: "you're really not going to tell me?"

Carly: "Nope"

Both friends laugh as they eat their breakfast

Carly: "do you have a ride to the airport tonight?"

Lizzie: "I was going to take a cab to the airport"

Carly: "do you want me to drive you?"

Lizzie: "no, it's okay. I don't want to take an hour or two of your life to take me to the airport"

Carly: "it's not like I have anything else to do. Maddie is back homeland you are leaving"

Lizzie: "you really need more friends"

Carly: "speak for yourself, you said you didn't have any friends here in New York"

Lizzie: "you did not flip this conversation on me"

Both friends laugh

Carly: "seriously though, I can take you if you want"

Lizzie; are you sure?"

Carly: "I'm sure, my plans for tonight were binging movies and How I Met Your Mother"

Lizzie: "of course, those are your plans for tonight" 

They both laugh
