45. Did You or Did You Not?

VICTORIA 

"Okay, I sat down with the human magic drink. You tell me everything" I looked at her on the video call. 

Skylar sighed, "It is Coffee, Vic"

Since I discovered 'Coffee', I couldn't stop drinking it. Bitter, sweet, milk is warm and there is the cream on the top. Some people even have it with 'chocolate chips' apparently. I should get those chocolate chips sometime. 

"Yes, Yes...this is the Star one. There is high flavor that lady said. So, yes, I can taste it a little..."

Skylar chuckled, "It is from Starbucks and highly Caffeinated. You shouldn't have too much Caffeine"

"Uhm-hmm" I took a sip, "I feel you are going to bestow me with a lot of information and I need it."

"Would you rather have me bestow it on Victor?"

"I'll endure it" I laughed, "Tell me what happened"

After she was done, I realized even the coffee cannot make me feel better. My gut clenched and I felt like puking. I should go with Victor to get some blood soon. Seems like my system needs my own 'food'. However, I knew the sudden change is not because of my eating habits but the shell bombs that Skylar dropped on me.

"Let me register this - Alex is my brother"

"Yes" She said

"We have a witch's son in our house"

"Jeez, yes"

"There is a war, we have to fight, the Goddess of death and Uncle made a deal, she apparently likes Alex, she was cursed by the priests, she killed her family but we don't know why the priests cursed her"

"And I am an Augmenter" Skylar sighed.

I held my head, "And there is that."

"That old dude who told us about the Goddess said no one knows why they cursed her. But as soon as she was cursed, she killed her husband and child. The child was still inside her! That's..."

"Ruthless?" I suggested

"Worse" She declared.

"Can't deny" I added and took a sip of my coffee. It turned cold but still tastes good, "So, what are you going to do? Tell everyone about her murders?"

"No!" Skylar propped up on her bed and I heard the frame making sound with her movement, "She is too unstable. The other day I saw her leaning on her bedroom glass window and looking very remorseful. What if she kills us all?"

"They can't kill" I told her. The Godly rules.

"Yes, A Goddess can't kill. She apparently killed her kin and husband. How do we explain that? Ahhh...But she has a brother who will do the dirty work. And guess what? He seems to have Lola hostage. She is very smart, I'll give her that. We haven't seen that poor kid ever since he took her on a 'palace tour'"

"Messy"

"Very" 

"Speak to her" I suggested. Skylar stared at me

"What?" She whispered.

"Speak to the Goddess. Ask Morana what really happened." I told her, "The worst that she can do is kill you, right?"

"You make it sound so insignificant" She raised an eyebrow and I couldn't help but laugh.

"See?" I explained, "If she kills you, no one will be on her side. She will start a war before the actual war and she knows it. She will evade your questions probably but kill? I highly doubt it. But I am just placing the possibility before you."
