As dawn broke over the lake and the early morning amber light began to fill the treehouse, Jennie quietly got dressed. The sleeping woman on the camping mattress stirred as she moved about. She bent down and kissed Jisoo gently on the forehead and stroked her messy morning hair.

Jisoo was still naked. Still breathtaking.

"I gotta go before my parents get up," Jennie whispered.

Jisoo sighed and yawned beneath her. When her eyes finally opened halfway, she smiled.

"Okay."

"You sleep in."

"Mmm." Jisoo leaned up to Jennie and puckered her heart-shaped lips.

With a giggle, Jennie kissed her and let it draw out for a nice, long moment.

"Bye."

Jisoo rolled onto her side, and Jennie crept out and down the tree-trunk ladder. She paddled the canoe across the serene morning lake, still half in shadow. It was beautiful.

She pulled into the boathouse, tied up the canoe, and shuffled across the lawn and up the porch stairs, careful to be quiet  She said a little prayer that the door was unlocked. It was.

Thank you God.

She'd never done the walk of shame while living in the same house as her parents and she hoped to avoid any questions, although it seemed inevitable.

She managed to get to her room without hearing any noise from her parents room.

Phew.

She crawled into bed and let herself doze for a while. Deep sleep was out of the question as her mind replayed the night before over and over again.

Did that really happen? Yes, it certainly did. Girl, did it ever.

An alarm buzzed from down the hall and Jennie knew it was seven in the morning. Jiyong was a creature of habit, even on vacation. Now she had to decide how to play this off. They would know it had been a late night for her, at the very least.

Would they know she hadn't really come home at all? Jennie couldn't be sure. If she slept too long, they'd be suspicious. If she was up at the crack of dawn, they'd know something was up.

When Jennie smelled the fresh coffee scent wafting down the hall , she figured now was as good a time as any. She slipped on a nightgown and slippers and made her way out to face the music.

Jiyong stood at the counter, his back to Jennie.

"Morning," Jennie said, putting on her best I'm-still-sleepy voice. She fake-rubbed sleep from her eyes.

But Jiyong didn't turn around.

"Mornin'," came the flat reply.

Jennie poured herself a coffee and a bowl of cereal and sat at the table. Jiyong busied himself at the sink. Finally Chaerin emerged from the bedroom and gave her husband a quick morning peck on the cheek

"Hi Sweetie," she said, sitting beside Jennie. "Did you have a good night?" Her mother's eyes darted to Jiyong then back to her daughter.

Jennie pursed her lips and raised an eyebrow.

Damn, she knows.

"Good, good," Jennie replied, searching her mind for a half-truth-half-lie that would go over well. "Joy and I and some others from around here went to Jisoo's for a poker night."
