Jennie spent the evening resisting the urge to ream out her father for his oh-so-inappropriate intrusion into her relationship with Jisoo.

Relationship, she scoffed at herself. What a joke.

She'd known Jisoo for all of two days. Plus a few summers as a kid and most importantly Jisoo being not an ordinary girl for having a male genetalia, but what does that mean between two adults, twenty years on?

Instead of confronting her father and embarrassing them both, she opted for cool silence.

Her mother read through gossip magazines and Jiyong whittled a piece of wood into the rough shape of a bird, a skill he'd honed quite impressively over the years. The cottage was littered with his little wooden animal creations.

As per usual, her parents retired fairly early, and Jennie decided to stay out a while longer with her epic novel and mini flashlight.

She couldn't shake the deep desire for a repeat of last night, but she shrugged it off and lost herself in description of the dashing and aloof Rhett Butler.

After a rather lengthy and boring few paragraphs that she read several times, absorbing none of it, Jennie had had her fill.

She peaked over at the stack of trash mags her mother had left behind. Why not.

She put down the hardcover book and grabbed for some gossip. She flipped lazily through the who wore it best pages, skimming through candid shots of celebrities doing everyday things, and the endless makeup advertisements.

What drivel, her pretentious inner voice whispered.

Shut up, came the defensive reply. Vacation.

She stopped on a longer two page spread, the feature article of the issue, it seemed.

'Married Songbird Kim Soojoo caught canoodling with Action Stud Kim Hanbin!'

Announced the bright red headline.

Scandalous. Jennie read on.

'Kim Soojoo makes no public comment after steamy photos surface of her illicit affair with blockbuster sex symbol Kim Hanbin. Her producer wife Kim Jisoo was seen moving out of their posh penthouse earlier this week.'

Kim Jisoo. Holy fuck.

Jennie pulled the magazine closer to her face and scanned the pages intently with her flashlight.

There, right in her face, was a clear paparazzi shot of Jisoo, fit in jeans, a leather jacket, and dark sunglasses, loading boxes into a white truck.

Super imposed in the corner of the photo was Kim Soojoo, Grammy winning songstress, giving a sultry glare to the camera in a publicity shot for her newest album.

Oh God, oh God, Jennie's mind raced.

Jisoo wasn't just hanging out at her cottage getting over any old divorce. This was major news, and she had much more reason to hide from it all than Jennie did.

At least Jennie's failed relationship wasn't in the press. She flipped the magazine closed to check the front.

Yep. It was the cover story. Brutal.

She suddenly felt guilty, having this wealth of new information about Jisoo, sourced from a piece of tabloid garbage.

Wait, maybe it's not true!

Jennie grabbed the stack of magazines and scanned the titles for a more reputable publication. People Magazine. Slightly more legitimate.

And there it was on the front cover.
