ALEX

My head jerks forward slightly as the car comes to a stop.

I look sideways at Shawn's hands and watch his right hand leave the steering wheel and travel downwards to the gear and shift it to a resting position.

The traffic on the road traveling with us has also come to a stop.

We are waiting for the traffic signal in front of us to turn green from the blaring red it is right now.

I look sideways at Shawn's face and I am caught off guard when I see him facing me and his eyes focused on my face.

I unintentionally draw in a sudden surprised short breath which unfortunately results in a soft snort.

Shawn's concerned face relaxes and he starts laughing.

"What?" I try my best to sound annoyed but I can't, considering the fact that there is an uncontrollable smile on my face.

Why the hell did I snort?

I'm supposed to be mad at him.

"The snort was funny." Shawn says.

"Get over it already." I say, visibly rolling my eyes.

"You sound mad." Shawn comments, his eyes back on the road.

"I am mad." I said.

"I sensed that in the parking lot which is the reason I picked you up halfway. You didn't say hi to me. You always say hi." Shawn said.

"You sound like a five-year-old child whose mommy didn't kiss him before school and now he assumes that his mommy doesn't like him." Alex says.

"Does mommy like me then?" Shawn says with a mocking tone with an adorable pout on his face.

Nope, that's a trick.

I shouldn't call it adorable.

I don't reply to him.

"What? Come on. What did I do? Tell me. I'll try and make it right. I can't have you not talking to me." Shawn says with an expecting tone.

"Oh, you can't? Then why don't you listen or answer when I do want to talk to you. Why didn't you answer any of my calls the past two days? Why did you reply to my texts with just some one to three words when they were questions which clearly needed longer replies." I said angrily.

I probably shouldn't have vented all those things just like that. They probably came out too harsh.

"What? You want me to write you paragraphs?" Shawn said, still seemingly clueless.

Something snapped inside me.

"When someone asks you if you hate them, you're not just supposed to answer in yes or no, you're supposed to explain why you hate them or why you don't." I say, before I can think about my words.

"Okay, Woah." Shawn said, he widened his eyes and stared at the road.

This is pissing me off even more.

Is he even paying any kind of attention to what I'm saying?

"You seem like you're on your period." Shawn says.

"I have a dick. I can never be on my period." I say with an angry tone.

"That was a joke. Chill down." Shawn says.

"The texts that I sent were not jokes." I say.

Shawn's right hand, which was resting on the steering, moves to the gear and shifts it into a certain position and the car starts moving as I see one of his legs step on the gas pedal.
