Chapter 20: Journey to the Entertainment District

4 Months Later

It's been four months since the accomplishment of the train mission, and within that time frame, the four young slayers began their rehabilitation and training so that they could become stronger and take on more serious missions. Under the tutelage of Rengoku who spent most of his time during those four months over seeing their training, Lynn and the others worked to strengthen their swordsmanship skills and strengthen their bodies to last longer in dragged out battles. Due to further examination, it was discovered that you possibly did not use Tenseiga to its full extent, and Rengoku was not revived back to full health, and that he had permanent lung scarring and damage, resulting in frequent shortness of breath and the need to take medicine daily. It was decided that Rengoku would no longer embark on missions and that he would remain as a mentor and master of sorts to train the new and upcoming slayers that came his way. Right now, he wore a simple grey kimono and sat on the edge of the supply house as he watched Lynn train hard. Lynn was currently finishing up mastering her new fighting style, seeing as she had to change from the typical sword style, to the naginata fighting style. With her new weapon, Yukari no Tachikiri, she twirled her polearm around at incredibly speeds in her hands before delivering two firm slashes in the air and flipping forward with a overhead strike that brought her polearm straight down on the ground. She huffed a few tired breaths as she had been training for a few hours now during the day, though with her newly strengthened stamina, Lynn felt she could continue for much longer.

"That's enough for now, Lynn." Rengoku called to her from where he sat as she glanced over at him. "Tanjirou and the others should be returning soon. We want to be presentable when we welcome them back from their missions." Rengoku said as Lynn stood back up straight and wiped some sweat off her face.

"Right." Lynn said as she put her naginata on her back and walked over to Rengoku as she helped him up to assist him walking as they made their way back to the nursery. 

"I think you've really refined your skills with your new weapon. You're no longer making the habits of thinking you're still using a sword and it looks like you've adapted to it well. How goes your training with your new abilities?" Rengoku asked as he walked with Lynn and their arms were linked to make sure he wouldn't fall due to any shortness of breath or something else that may happen to him.

"I've made more progress than I ever could have imagined. I don't really get tired anymore after using any of my harder techniques ever since I was able to properly adapt Total Concentration Breathing, Constant to my fighting style." Lynn said as they entered the nursery and turned down the hallway.

"That's splendid to hear. At this rate, you may be able to join the ranks of the Hashira by the end of the year or sooner." Rengoku gave her a hearty but mellowed chuckle.

"You flatter me too much. I wouldn't be here if it wasn't for Lord Y/N and me accidentally turning into a half-demon. I'm just lucky..." Lynn tried to be more modest about herself.

"That's not true." Rengoku stopped in his tracks as Lynn stared at him in confusion as he looked at her seriously. "Of course, with your enhanced abilities and strength, you were able to garner fame and push your name up the ranks of the slayers. However, there are other requirements that are needed to be met when climbing the ranks. Your resolve to protect the weak and courage to tackle whatever adversary stands against you, along with your desire to take down Muzan and put an end to this tyranny of demons, has proven you to be an incredible Demon Slayer." He separated himself from her and stood face to face with her as his hand gently landed atop her head. "You may have been given great strength, but it's how you use that power that determines what kind of Slayer you are. Walk with your head high and proud." Rengoku gave her words of encouragement as Lynn couldn't help but smile from his kind words.
