Finch purred. It had taken two more months of training, but Finch had finally been able to become a Fighter! Toad had become a Hunter, too. Finch felt a twinge of sadness. She missed Thrush, but now that the vines were gone, she would be free. She hoped that Leaf would take care of her. Finch had grown to be good friends with Horizon, and they mourned their sisters together. They understood each other.
Finch flicked her tail as she watched the sunset with Toad, who was falling asleep on her shoulder.
"Who's the sleepy head now?" Finch purred.
"Still you." Toad mumbled.
Finch chuckled and watched as the sun left the sky.
"I love you, Finch." Toad's voice was quiet and Finch glanced over, shocked.
"I...I love you, too, Toad." She felt her gaze soften and a purr bloomed, coming from deep in her throat. "I'm so glad that you're okay."
"I'm glad I'm okay, too." Toad purred sleepily. Finch laughed and Toad continued, "And I'm glad that you're alright as well, I guess."
Finch shoved him and he stumbled. "Ack! I was joking!"
Finch laughed. "Come on, you big furball."
She was glad that Toad was back.
