"WELCOME TO THECOURT OF SHADOWS," the Roach declares, illuminating the blackened passageways of which they came from. It takes Jude a couple of seconds to adjust to the light. Her eyes squeeze shut and her arms throw themselves in front of her face. But soon, the searing disperses. And when they open, she blinks in awe. Beneath the depths of the palace ━━━━━ through the hallways of the hidden, the mortal Jude Duarte had found herself in the headquarters of the Court of Shadows.
"It's amazing, isn't it?" Allura Evetine beamed from behind, startling Jude so much she nearly screamed.
"How did you—"
"Same as you, Jude," she smiled playfully. "Secret passageways."
The rest of the troupe had been awaiting their arrival and Allura was the first to waltz on over. Only months ago had it been her being presented to the others ━━━━━━ like a brand new prize. Prince Dain had charmed her like any other, and the rest of his spies took bets on how quickly Allura would fall. The Ghost, of course, had won. It was in his nature to sense when one was easily pleased. And despite their teasing, they, too, grew to love the antler-bearing faerie with too much to give.
