Chapter V: "Rumor Has It"

School ended and it now was time to go to the Boys' Dorm to tutor Jimmy. Should I even bring up the Beatrice situation? No. I shouldn't. I barely knew Jimmy, it would just weird him out if I did. I don't want him to think I'm just some weird, obsessed, jealous girl. It's best if I just pretend nothing's bothering me. I guess all it took for me to realize that I had a crush on Jimmy was the fact that he kissed another girl.

I walked into the Boys' Dorm and entered Jimmy's dorm as the door was already open. I was a little startled to see that he was inside already. His back was turned. He was playing with some weird chemistry set. I slightly knocked on the already open door. He eagerly turned around.

"Hey!" I said, smiling.

"Well, you're right on time."

"Yeah, I came straight here after the last bell rang."

I threw myself on his bed, all four of my limbs stretched out.

"Man... Today was tiring." I remarked.

"Tell me about it." Jimmy said as he crossed his arms. "Are you gonna leave me some room?"

"Oh! Sorry!"

I sat up against the bedpost. Jimmy crawled onto his bed and sat next to me.

"Alright. So what do you need help with today?"

"I got a quiz back today. Maybe we could go over it?"

"Sure. What was your grade?"

"I surprisingly passed. I got an 11/15."

"Wow! That's great news, Jimmy. We'll have to celebrate sometime!"

Jimmy and I went over the Bio quiz he took. Before, he didn't grasp Bio at all, so seeing him pass a quiz was definitely rewarding for both of us.

"So, do you understand why you got those questions wrong now?"

"Yeah, thanks."

I exhaled a sigh of relief. My day was basically over.

"Alright Jimmy, so is that it?"

"Wait."

Huh? Maybe he wanted to go over something else? I mean, explaining that quiz only took around 20 minutes.

"I overheard you talking about me to Beatrice in Art today."

Oh crap! Bye, Jimmy Hopkins. You're gonna think I'm weird and not wanna be friends with me ever now.

I could feel my face turn beet red. My heart was racing.

"Oh!! Haha, yeah." I said as I scratched my head. "She was actually the one who brought you up."

"Oh, yeah?" Jimmy raised an eyebrow and leaned closer to me. "What did she say?"

At this point, I was getting flustered.

"Ummm--I--uhh... She told me about how you took back her notes from Mandy."

Jimmy's head went back as he laughed.
