The Mask

Who am I...? What am I? A puppet? A doll?
Wondering...In life...what is my call?
Letting people toy me, control me however they like
Tugging my threads, trying to reach an unreachable pike

Be yourself...simple to say, complicated to do
If the eyes around every corner will judge you
Following standards...removing your colorful hue
They close their doors at your face...often true

You fight back, the whole world will be your enemy
They will cut your wings and chain your feet...locked eternally
Trying to change you in what they see fit
While you are wounded...bruised and slit

So you wear a mask...to hide your true self
Doubting...Hiding...keeping all of it in a hidden shelf
Having a hard time trusting...on guard, walls up
Not letting the vibrations break the crumbling cup

But let me tell you something...be yourself!
They may be haters, but so are the believers
Don't cage yourself...you are but a blessing, not a curse
Release your hues and be thyself!

Let them close their doors, reject you and throw you
They missed a diamond in the rough, unique amongst few
Shine like the stars and show them who they once threw
They closed doors? Go back to take the whole building too!

Things will be better...we hide within the shadows no more
We will see us free and in glee, we will not be dirt on the floor
We are human...a part of society, who might we be, what we might be
Those are still us and makes us human...and no one has the right to judge

Let's remove our masks and show who we truly are
No one will hold us back, we will reach near and far
it takes time to cope...takes time to accept but...soon
The eclipse will soon take a full shining moon...
