THE HOUSE NEVER FELT SO CLEAN until i decided to clean it up, i didn't get rid of anything at all but i just stored some things back where they should be in. it was all just ana and mario's toys that took up the place. abuela's kitchen supplies were all over the place but they reminded her of my abuelo who died of a heart attack a month before i was born.
i never met him but i would always look at the pictures of him that were framed on the wall by abuela, she still cries every now and then over his death. they married when they were young but also never fought once in their marriage, if they were about to fight abuelo would always buy her flowers to prevent it.
the clock struck 2 and i had to walk to the elementary school to pick up my siblings. i quickly grabbed my purse and keys, walked out of the apartment without even locking the door.
i sped up my pace just in case i would bump into david on my way out, you never know if he's in or out of school because he never tells people these things. my black flats were a bit slippery and i felt like i was about to slip any moment.
"hola marlena!" eduardo the old man from the lobby yells.
"hi!" i said back with a panicked smile.
my watch just hated me, moving very fast just so i can appear late to picking up my siblings.
i finally made it to the school as soon as i could, kids were running up to their parents while ana ran u; to me with open arms. i swung her around when she was glued to my waist. mario came stomping after her with a frown on his face, i could tell he got in trouble for something.
"what's wrong, mario?" i asked him.
"i got recess taken away for being mean." he pouted.
"well what did you even do?"
"there was this boy who kept making fun of ana's hair so i called him a stupid freak." he shrugged.
"i'm proud that you stood up for ana, i'll get mama to talk to your teacher." i said as i jokingly messed up his hair.
we began walking home and on our way, we somehow bumped into two-bit and those two boys from the hospital. ana really liked all of them that she waved to them with that big smile on her face. they all waved back to her of course, ponyboy even crossed the street to just say hi to her.
