IT WAS JAM PACKED IN BUCK'S, everybody was grinding up on each other by the pool table where all the guys with leather would push out sticks while girls in denim would just watch and at least try to seduce them. on the other hand, i had no idea why i was even here, had no idea who all these people were and couldn't even find dallas.

i was being pushed around by the people near me until i fell by the bar, dallas was sitting there downing a beer in his hand. i sat next to him to look busy but he just gave me a confused look as if he had seen a dead body or something. the feeling of wanting to just jump off a building was already getting to me. i didn't belong here nor did i want to be here, i just came because i felt like i could find answers of who my dad was if he was always hanging around here with my mom.

"you again." he scoffed after one look.

"i didn't come here for you so let your eyes stare at something else." i said to him.

he took one sip of his beer before handing it to me, "you ain't leaving this place until you had one drink."

"i'm not drinking it, dallas." i told him.

"drink it, princess." dallas had that seductive smirk like he always has in when it comes to women.

"no, now fuck off!" i yelled.

dallas put his hands up in surrender, left me alone the rest of the night. i sat there unbothered with my hand in my palm. dallas walked away from the bar to go over to the pool table where the rest of the crowd was, buck was the only one working the bar.

"i know you." he said out of the blue, "you're rex keene's daughter."

"huh?" i snapped out of my gaze.

"your father always came here every night with who i assumed was your mother, graziela perez?" he recalled.

"that's my mother, sir. what were they like?"

"all kinds of emotions," he laughed with his western accent, "some nights they'd fight but there were drunk. most nights they were the couple everyone wanted to be, perfect and happy."

"when's the last time you saw rex?" i asked him.

"oh boy, we're looking back 8 or 9 years ago?" he scratched the back of his head, "told me he was ditching oklahoma and decided to travel his life out."

"did he tell you where he was going?"

"nope, he told me he'd write a letter once he finds out where he was going, never did though." he said in disappointment.

"oh."

"ya know, i've known him since high school actually. we were great buddies throughout everything, i'd even let him drink for free here." buck chuckled, "we stopped communicating after he left and i'd never see him again after that."

"wow, he never told me that one." i tried to joke it off.

"he's a very secretive guy, believe me. i didn't even know he met your mama until a year after they met, never even told me he met a girl." buck told me, "that's all i got about your father, most stuff i probably can't even remember."

"thank you, buck, i really needed that." i smiled at him, "here's $5, just take it even though i didn't buy anything."

"no problem, come back anytime i guess." he shrugged while taking the money.

i walked out of the bar with the same emotions i had when i left my apartment, this time i was more confused out of all the anger. i don't even remember the way home. that was until i heard someone call out my name, i looked ahead and saw soda running up to me.

my eyes squinted and my voice shouted, "soda?!"

"good gosh, what the hell are you doing here, mar?" he panted from all that running.

"i don't even know, soda." i broke, "but i do know that there was so much history here with my dad."

        "what?" he said in confusion.

"it's so much to explain." i wiped my eyes, "anyways, why are you here?"

"two and steve wanted to come down here to grab a beer, i just came with them because i don't got work tomorrow morning." he explained, "but i'll walk you home if that was what you were planning on doing."

"yeah, um can you just take me home?" i asked.

"of course, come on." he held me close to him as we walked down the road.

throughout all that, i felt so bad for leaving him hanging after getting together, he was such a sweet boy and didn't let anyone get to his head. it was so cruel of me to leave a boy like him, someone who only lets love get in the way. soda in my eyes, was the perfect boy.
