Deceiving The Ashes

Jisoo's ears were suddenly assaulted by a deafening crash, reverberating through the air as she leaned against the wall. In that moment, Minho's grip on her arms loosened, setting her free. However, a wave of paralysis washed over her, rendering her unable to respond to the chaos unfolding around her. Her eyes clenched shut, her breaths labored and burdened. Tears cascaded down her cheeks, their flow matching the rapid rhythm of her heart.

"It's o-over!!"

Jisoo was taken aback by the unexpected voice, causing her to cautiously pivot her body. Her eyes widened in shock as she laid sight on Minho, sprawled motionless on the ground. Swiftly, she diverted her gaze towards the girl, her heart racing with concern.

"What did you do?" Jisoo uttered in disbelief.

"I struck him forcefully on the head with an item." Trembling, the girl uttered. Jisoo was overwhelmed by the events unfolding before her.

In an attempt to process the horrifying reality of almost being raped by Minho, she tightly shut her eyes. A moment later, she heard the girl whimpering, and her heart filled with empathy as she gazed upon her.

"Come with me... I promise to protect you!" Jisoo murmured urgently. With utmost care, Jisoo draped a warm blanket over the girl's shivering form, her clothes in tatters. Hand in hand, they moved carefully towards Soohyang's secluded chamber. Jisoo knew that no one would suspect the girl's presence in her mother's distant chamber, far removed from the bustling upper floors. Soohyang, engrossed in her kitchen duties, was oblivious to their clandestine journey.

"Please, have a seat on the bed. I have just the perfect outfit for you," Jisoo kindly offered, swiftly making her way towards her mother's closet. With a discerning eye, she selected a simple yet elegant blue dress and handed it over to her.

"Please wear this!" Jisoo voiced. After waiting for her to get dressed, Jisoo watched her walking over to her. The girl instantly hugged her tightly.

"Thank you....thank you for helping me out.....I was in so much pain!!"

"It...it was absolutely dreadful!" The girl sobbed uncontrollably, her tears streaming down her face like a torrential downpour. She desperately shielded her anguished expression, as haunting memories of the soul reaper's sinister intentions flooded her mind. Jisoo, with a tinge of melancholy in her smile, tenderly caressed the girl's hair, offering solace in the midst of her profound distress.

"Thank you...you also saved me from that monster!! I'm grateful!" Jisoo uttered back. The girl instantly backed away and looked at Jisoo's countenance.

"I knew it! My intuition was spot on! There's something unique about you, I can sense it whenever our hands meet!" The girl exclaimed, her eyes filled with affection. Jisoo found herself bewildered by her unexpected statement.

"Wha...what do you mean??" Jisoo asked in bewilderment. The girl frowned as she held onto Jisoo's hands.

"You hail from Sapphire...our ancestral home! I sense it...you...you possess the essence of a soul keeper, a guardian of souls!" The young woman whispered, her eyes gleaming with excitement. Jisoo's gaze reflected only bewilderment.

"I...I believe you may be confused.... I.. I don't believe I possess the role of a soul...keeper?!"Jisoo stammered. The young woman's lips curved into a gentle smile as she promptly placed her hands atop Jisoo's.

"I see that you're lost or confused! How did you come here? Since I can sense that you don't belong here!" The girl said with curiosity being evident in her eyes. Jisoo cleared her throat and stood up from the bed.

"I... I am wedded to a soul reaper! And to add to that, my own father was one too. Hence, I am asserting that it is utterly inconceivable for me to be the polar opposite of my father!" Jisoo vehemently countered. In response, the girl purposefully strode towards Jisoo's vicinity.
