Ello amigos, it's been so long!
Now now, if you haven't seen it yet, this chapter is in Axel's POV because I know that I've fucked up and need to make it up to you guys somehow.

I wasn't really ready to get into Axel's head yet but I just wanted to do something to make up for my absence and this was all I could think about.

Anyway, here is a quick dive into the utter chaos which is Axel's head. I hope you enjoy it <3

AXEL

Eight, sixteen, twenty-four, thirty-two, forty, forty-eight, fifty-two, sixt—

No, wait. That doesn't seem right.

I squinted, doing the addition all over in my head then a smile lit up my face when I finally got it—fifty-three. And then I frowned again because it still wasn't right. What the hell was an odd number doing in there?

Whoever thought counting in eights would take my mind off the girl sitting beside me—and get me to stop feeling nervous—was dumb as hell and deserved to be jailed for such deception.

Me. That person was me.

I'm dumb as hell, but that isn't news right?

Only a dumb person would assume mere addition—albeit a very confusing one—would somehow manage to make me stop thinking about Eva, when all it did was make me all the more aware of her.

Had she been watching me? If she turned her head right now and saw me squinting and muttering to myself, would she ask herself what she was doing with a freak like me in the first place and hightail it out of my car as fast as she can?

Because, frankly, one a scale of one to loser, I was pretty sure I just unlocked a whole new level. I mean, who the hell was I kidding? I was not smart enough to count in six, not to talk of eight.

I decided to blame it on the motivational books my sister has been shoving my way—I have never opened a single page in any of them, but it felt good to blame it on something—and not accept the fact that I was a total complete loser.

A pretty one anyway.

Just to confirm, my eyes flitted to the rearview mirror briefly.

Okay, good.

That must be why Eva still gave me the time of the day.

Note to self, take extra care of your face. And your washboard abs, and legs. She seemed to look at them a lot, although I wasn't really sure if it was because she wanted me to use them—by walking away from her incase you didn't get it.

Oh, and my voice.

Not to brag, but I've heard it's an exceptionally nice voice—panty-meltingly sexy even—and I'd do well to remember that. Maybe I should check online if there were exercises one took to make sure that they never lost their voice—

"Do you realize we've been in the exact same spot for the past five minutes and that the car behind us has been honking to get your attention?"

I blinked, turned to the rearview in confusion, looked at the road, then back to the mirror. Blinking again, I turned back to the road, my eyes flicking up to the traffic lights.

"I'm waiting for the light to turn—" My words died in the back of my throat when I saw that the light had turned green ages ago and was now two seconds away from turning red. "Oh shit."

Stepping on the gas, I sped past just in time for the lights to turn red and sighed in relief, muttering a 'thanks' to Eva without even turning her way.
