i sighed slowly as i woke up, hearing a heartbeat against my ear.

i hummed, adjusting how i was laying, only to have someone wrap their arms around me. confused, my eyes fluttered open as i looked up.

there mountain was, looking down at me with a soft smile.

"good morning," mountain whispered. "morning.." i hummed, a pounding headache making itself known.

i grumbled, bringing my hand to my head as i rested my forehead on mountain's chest.

"what's wrong?" mountain mumbled, pulling me up so we were face to face. "headache." i responded, barely opening one of my eyes to look into his bright green eyes.

mountain frowned, bringing one of his hands to my head. after a moment, the pounding pain faded away. i blinked rapidly, a bit disoriented from the sudden lack of pain.

"how did you do that?" i mumbled. "earth ghoul abilities," mountain shrugged. i hummed, nodding as the memories from the night before started to come back to me.

i let out a sigh, trying to convince myself that my view of the ghouls hadn't been tainted by the super moon's affects.

"how're you feeling?" i mumbled. "i woke up disoriented.. everything from before you brought us out is a complete blur." mountain answered, his voice quiet. "how are you feeling?" mountain countered. my mind went blank for a moment.

how was i feeling..?

"confused." i stated after a minute. mountain hummed. "anything i can help with?" he asked.

"is rain always like that during super moons?" i whispered, my voice cracking as i remembered how terrifying his mood became after sodo attacked me.

mountain chuckled. i looked up at him, tears welling in my eyes.

"what's funny?" i asked. mountain smiled softly, brushing his thumb under my eye as a tear fell from my waterline. "only you would be worried about someone else after getting attacked yourself." mountain whispered, a sad tone in his voice.

i sighed, burying my face into his neck.

"to answer your question, i don't think so. i think he was acting off before i even came to." mountain mumbled. i nodded, "he kept making remarks towards aether, sometimes flat out growling at him." i whispered. mountain hummed.

"then i think there's something we need to look into.." mountain trailed off. "what is it?" i asked. "oh, not you and me. the other ghouls and i." mountain corrected. i sighed, nodding.

"i don't want to be scared of anyone.. is there anything we can do so i won't be scared of rain? or dew?" i asked, looking up at mountain.

mountain hummed, looking at my wall as he thought.

"i'll ask papa.. we probably won't be able to do anything until tonight." mountain whispered. i nodded. "until then, i think you should at least try to interact with both dew and rain.. give them the benefit of the doubt.. aether said they were a wreck when he came to check up on you." mountain told me.

i looked up at the earth ghoul, terror obvious in my eyes. mountain frowned.

"if anything goes wrong, there will be more backup then there was last night, okay? papa called back alpha, omega, and ifrit to help keep things under control." mountain whispered. i swallowed harshly and nodded, hugging him.

after about 20 minutes, mountain got up and told me to get ready, leaving my room after.

i sighed, shuffling over to my closet.
