Coraline Chambers

She stared out into the water silently, letting the tears fall

Harry's words silenced, all she focused on was the water, rushing beneath them.

Harry sighed helplessly, grabbing her arm.

"Sloane come on. Please just listen to me." He pleaded as she pulled her arm away.

"Don't." She hissed, wiping her tears.

"You have to understand, I'm doing this because I love you." He told her, swallowing back a sob. She scoffed, looking at him.

"Because you love me? If you fucking love me, you wouldn't be dumping me Harry. Don't use that excuse." She snapped, slapping his hand away. "You deserve to be able to live without worrying about your boyfriend relapsing. You deserve a life without another pill head." Harry whispered.

She shook her head, her lips quivering as she bit them.

She looked down, inhaling. Her face twitched, biting her cheek.

"Then we're broken up. That's it." She sniffled.

Harry sighed, looking down as he let the tears go, leaning his elbows on his knees.

She scoffed as it began to rain.

She hopped off her hood, walking to the drivers side.

"Harry get in the car." She told him, watching as he shook his head.

Harry hopped off as well, walking away.

He was angry with himself, he knew what he did was right, letting her live happily without a worry in the world about him.

She would see it soon enough, she would realize he was right.

Cory scoffed, starting the car, driving slowly beside him.

"Harry, I hate you right now. But I'm not going to let you walk home in the rain." She yelled, blocking his path.

He leaned against the car, shaking his head.

"Just fucking get in!" She snapped, unlocking the door.

He gave in and sat in the passenger seat quietly.

She began the drive back to her house, still crying.

"Grab your stuff. Take everything. I want it all out." She told him as she pulled into the driveway, stopping the car abruptly and putting it into park.

Harry nodded quietly, jogging into the house.

She stared at her wheel, crying quietly.

What did she do wrong? To deserve this? What'd she say to him, do to him to make him feel like this?

She wanted her dad, she wanted to cuddle against him as he held her, telling her it would all be okay like the thousand times he'd done before.

She wanted to smell his cologne again, the scent smelling like home, like the only home she's ever had.

She wished to be back in North Carolina, visiting her grandparents. The smell of marshmallows wafting throughout their house as the cold air swept in from outside.

Anywhere but here was okay, anytime but now.

She sniffled, getting out the car and locking it quickly, running up the steps.

As she opened the door, Harry walked out. They ran into each other, causing Cory to cry even harder as his cologne met her nose.
