Chapter Text
"I'll deliver the papers this week." Finney told him.
Billy looked at him, puzzled. Finney hoped that he the enthusiasm in his voice didn't show.
"I'm not going to pay you or anything." Billy finally said, after looking at him wearily.
"I didn't think you would." Finney told him. He didn't want to sound desperate, but this was his chance to save Billy, and he was not going to lose it. He would literally beg Billy to let him do the deliveries if that's what it took. If it kept Billy alive, that's what mattered.
"Oh, Ok." Billy muttered out, sounding kind of confused but then he grinned, "You have just made my week so much easier Finney." Finney smiled back at him.
"Not really, I'm sure anyone would've done it." Finney bashfully replied, no really knowing how to respond to such a nice answer.
But Billy laughed,"Nah, you and I are probably the only two people in the grade who would willingly get up before seven." Was Billy being nice to him? Was he genuinely trying to converse with Finney? The only people who really did that at school were Robin and Gwen. Most people just ignored him, or made fun of him. But Finney tried his best to appear socially adjusted, and continued the conversation.
"Yeah, I guess we are." He muttered out, and that seemed to be enough for Billy, who Finney thought may of moved his chair closer to him, but decided that was silly to even consider. Not many people wanted to be close to Finney.
"You'll just have to swing by Griffin with me at lunch, so you can grab the newspapers for tomorrow." Billy told him, as he pulled his books out of his bag.
"Why does Griffin have the newspapers?" Finney asked, wondering why the so called paperboy didnt have them stacked away somewhere. Billy flicked through his book for the page he was looking for, and then he explained.
"Griffin picks up the ones for tomorrow, so I don't have to carry around today, and tomorrows ones, when I'm riding my bike."
Yeah that makes sense. Finney knew that Griffin and Billy were close, Griffin had really been torn up when Billy went missing. Finney knew he acted the same when Robin went missing. In fact he only really saw Billy and Griffin hanging around each other, I mean he could hardly judge he only really hung around Robin as well.
"Ow." Billy hissed as he flexed his knuckles, and the bandages came lose. Finney glanced at them, and then reached for the bandaids and disinfectant that he kept in his bag, mainly for Robin. He placed them on the table.
"I can fix that for you, If you want." Finney told him, gesturing at the bloody knuckles. Billy once again looked puzzled
"You just carry those around." Finney shrugged.
"I like to be prepared." Billy laughed, and put his hands in front of Finney.
"Work your magic, man." Finney quietly set about fixing up Billy's knuckles, and did them in a record time. Billy looked amazed, and Finney wasn't sure why.
"You are literally some kind of angel." Billy told him dead straight. Finney felt himself blushing. He was sure if he looked in a mirror, his whole face would be pink.
