Where Do We Go When We Die | Colby Brock

Shadow Man.

We get back to the group and sit back down in our chairs and I curl up again and just stare at the fire “everything okay?” Sam asks “yeah all good” Colby says, after a couple minutes of us sitting there Colby sees something and freaks out falling backwards in his chair, “what?” I ask freaked out by his reaction “did you see that there was a shadow that just walked across there” Colby says standing up from the ground. 

Me and Corey both stand up as well, i go over to Colby to see if he’s okay “it walked right behind Jake” he adds “should we leave” Corey says over and over again Colby starts to walk away and i follow close behind not wanting to be left.      

  

“I feel like your fucking with me” Sam says “no i swe- why would i fuck with you?” Colby says “theres no reason for me to do that dude it literally ran across, this is our time to get it on camera” Colby says, Sam and Jake both stand up and get some flash lights. 

I turn on my phone light, “i dont want to go” Corey says “fine we need someone to stay here and watch the fire anyways” Colby says and he then turns to me “you should stay here as well” “im the only one that can protect you from spirits, which means im coming with” I say. 

Me and Colby start to walk away but Sam makes us stop while he grabs some stuff, we carry on walking Sam and Jake running behind us to catch up “stay on the path” Sam says from behind us “dude it was literally on this path so it could have been a biker or something but it went from here and it went boom” Colby says stood on the path showing us what he saw. 

Me and Colby keep on going with the other two stopped behind us “i think it went this way” Colby says and then starts running making me run as well, Sam and Jake start yelling to get us to stop but we keep on going, i look behind us and notice that the other two aren’t behind us anymore “wait colby” I say, i stop running as i realise something, “this has happened before… this was my dream” I say and look up to see colby still running off “Colby!” I yell but he keeps on going 

I turn around and see the shadow behind me, i quickly start running after Colby, “Colby!” I yell again but he doesnt hear me, while running I trip over something and fall down catching myself with my hands, my headache starts to get more powerful. I stand up and turn looking back at the shadow “what?! What do you want from me?!” I yell but it just stands there 

I hear yelling coming up behind me and i turn around seeing Colby “hey where’d you go?” he asks putting his hand on my shoulder “nowhere your the only one going somewhere i tried to stop you but you just kept running” I say looking back over to the shadow but now its gone. 

“No no no.” I say “what?” Colby asks looking in the same direction as me “the thing, the shadow it was stood right there” I say “hey its okay, did you hurt yourself?” Colby asks looking at the dirt on my clothes “i tripped thats all im fine” lets get back to the camp” Colby says holding onto my arm so he doesn’t lose me again.

“Oh my god y/n Colby” Corey says standing up from his chair and then they all start to run towards us “where did you guys go?” Jake asks “the shadow person i saw him again and then y/n saw it too” Colby says “the shadow person?” Sam asks “yeah the shadow” i say “the one you saw running?” Sam asks “yeah the same one” Colby comferms.

The boys argue a bit and then Corey speaks up to stop it “do you guys want to leave”, we start to walk and then Sam asks us “did you hear that scream?” “no” me and Colby reply “there was a girl scream, I thought it was you” Sam says looking at me “i didnt scream” I say. 

We get to the campfire area “what happened here? cause when we were walking back you were yelling” Sam asks Corey “I heard like a gate close up there and like i dont remember there being any gates around us” Corey explains “so what you think there is another person here somewhere?” Sam asks “yes and then i heard footsteps so theres definitely someone else here” Corey says. 

“Sorry if we like scared you guys but i swear to god i saw something and i thought you were behind me thats why i kept going, i didnt realise until y/n wasnt next to me anymore” Colby says “dude Jake and I saw this weird thing that was like hanging it was literally looked like a baby or some like small human hung” Sam says “I looked at it and my first thought that it was a baby being hung” Jake says “it was insane” Sam says 

“A baby?” I ask “yeah” Sam says “thats what happened in my dream, there was a baby or something hanging in a tree like across a field type thing” I say, “when I first saw it behind Jake it looked like one of those biker kids that was like peeking around the tree and just sprinted down the path” Colby explains and i sit back in my chair “we saw the red light it looked like a back of a bike” Jake says 

They talk about what they saw some more until Corey freaks out “holy shit” he says ducking and moving over to where me and Colby are sat “what?” Sam and Colby ask “dude shine a fucking light over there now, someone shine a fucking light over there now” Corey says “it’s there” Sam says pointing the camera and it’s light over to the area, Colby gets up and start to walk towards it “theres someone down there guys” Corey says 

“Colby dont walk off again” I say “no bro guys lets get in the car and leave, im not even theres people here” Corey says fear thick in his voice “theres people here?” Sam asks “yes theres people here” Corey says “no like we should leave, we should fucking leave” Corey says, i stand up and Colby walks over to me, “seariously we should leave” Corey says 

After he says that theres a noise behind Sam making everyone freak out, “we need to stay calm, can you guys please calm down?” Jake asks “yeah, lets at least start to pack up so if something is happening we’re ready to go” Sam says “im tryna stay calm but you guys are freaking me and y/n the fuck out” Jake say eating his gummy bears “okay quit eating your gummy bears and lets get the fuck out” Sam says. 

We clean everything up and put it all by the tent, Colby opens up the tent and lets me in first, i get into my sleeping bag and lye down, everyone else gets in and we all get comfortable. The boys start screaming because of a bug and then they start to try and hit it but keep on missing, i just stay laying down, “wait shh” Sam says and everyone stops freaking out “it just went so quiet” Sam says “did you not hear that thud like footstep before you said to be quiet?” Corey asks. They stop being serious again after they see the bug again and start hitting at it, they all talk for a while and then i fall asleep.

I wake up again to Corey yelling “and all the best friends lose their bestfriend because he got married”, i open my eyes seeing Colbys back in front of me “what… the… fuck… is going on?” I say my voice groggy, “Corey was telling a story and the point is to never get married” Sam says but then his smile falls. 

“Ew no i heard that” I say trying to get away from the wall of the tent “what the fuck was that?” Sam asks “what’d you hear?” Jake asks “it was like a ‘caaarr’” Sam says, saying what he heard in a slow whisper, “shut up” Corey says “is that what you heard?” Sam asks “yeah” I say “everyone be quiet for like two seconds” Sam says 

Colby notices me uncomfortable so he moves behind me and lyes down and i sit in front of him, “should we try and get some sleep?” Colby asks “no” Corey says “dude do you know what i just remembered? When we were at the stanley and the dreams of us running-” Colby says then Corey interrupts him “i just heard an exhale and theres footsteps outside of the tent im actually being dead serious” we all stay quiet and then Sam starts to unzip the tent 

“Oh you crazy mother fucker” Jake says “why are you opening it?” I ask “you cant see shit out there” Corey says and Sam starts to zip it back up “i think we should just stay in here” Colby says still trying to sleep “but we’re practically in a cage” Corey says “yeah i dont feel safe anymore” Sam says and then there are more noises. 

“It sounds like another car” i say and then Colby’s head pops up “What was that? What was that? what was that?” Corey repeats freaking out and waving his arms around, they unzip the tent again and we all climb out, i grab onto Colby and we all look around trying to find what is making that noise but we couldn't find anything. 

We grab all of our stuff and start walking to Colby’s car, then Sam starts to run and we all run after him not wanting to get split up again. We get into the car and shut the doors “where are we going?” Colby asks starting the car “dude we can go to the cabin” Sam says.
