Gabriel POV

"There is a new girl at school." I heard Gray say as I closed my locker.

"Good morning to you too." I said, smirking at him.

"Yeah, fine, good morning." Gray sighed, rolling his eyes at me.

I chuckled and started walking toward our first class.

"Is she hot?" I asked, looking at Gray.

"Who?" he asked, furrowing his eyebrows.

I raised my eyebrows and laughed. I knew that Gray had a short attention span, but no matter how many times I witnessed him space out, it was always amusing for me.

"The new girl." I reminded him.

"Oh." he said, shaking his head. "Why are you asking me that, dude? You know that I don’t do chicks."

"You have eyes, Gray." I rolled my eyes at my friend.

"Yes." he nodded. "I have eyes for dudes."

I chuckled and shook my head. My friend was really too much sometimes. I loved him anyway. We grew up together. As much as he annoyed me, I couldn’t imagine my life without him. In a lot of ways, Gray was my brother.

Growing up, I only had my dad. He was an amazing guy, and I was really lucky to have him in my life. I was only three years old when my mom died, and my dad was the only family I had left. I had an uncle, cousins, and a grandfather, but I didn't get to see them much. My dad and I moved here after my mom’s death. I met Gray right away. He was my neighbor, and we bonded immediately.

"I didn’t see her anyway." Gray added. "I don’t even know her name. I just heard that there is a new girl at school."

I nodded, groaning, as we stepped closer to the classroom.

"Who came up with English as a first class on a Monday morning?" I mumbled, frowning.

Gray snorted. "It’s better than Math."

I rolled my eyes at him. Math was awesome. I understood Math. You have laws and principles that you have to follow. You get a definite answer at the end. English was too abstract for me. I hated English.

I walked into the classroom, followed by Gray. My eyes scanned the room and landed on someone I hadn’t seen before.

It had to be the new girl.

She was sitting alone at the far back of the classroom. I couldn’t see her face properly because her head was bent down.

"Did she skip grades?" I asked Gray quietly.

She was so small. She couldn’t have been older than 15. I was surprised and a little bit impressed. She must have been really smart to skip all of those grades.

"I don’t know, dude." Gray shrugged. "I told you that I don’t know anything about her."

I walked to my desk, followed by Janet’s lusty gaze. She and I fucked from time to time, but I was thinking about cutting her off. She thought that she had some sort of claim on me. She even called me her boyfriend one time. I told her that I don’t do relationships, but she obviously didn’t want to listen.

"The bitch is staring at you." Gray whispered as he sat down next to me.

"I know." I sighed. "I’m ignoring her."

"Good luck with that, dude." Gray snorted. "She is like herpes. She keeps coming back."

I had to stiffen my laugh because Mr. Wallace just walked inside the classroom.

"Good morning." Mr. Wallace said as he placed his bag on his desk. "We have a new student today. Miss Evans, please come up and introduce yourself."

Poor girl. Mr. Wallace didn’t waste any time.

I looked to my right and watched as she stood up and walked over to the front of the class, tugging on the sleeves of her hoodie. Her head was bent down the entire time.

She was wearing a black hoodie, jeans, and Chucks that have seen better days. The bitches at this school would eat the poor girl alive. I already noticed the dirty looks Janet and her bitches gave her.

I sighed internally. I felt a little sorry for the girl, but she was not my problem.

I looked down at the book in front of me, completely disinterested in what the girl had to say.

"Hi." I heard her say softly. " My name is Aria Evans. I am 17 years old."

17?! Was she sure?!

I heard murmurs all around me. I guess that no one thought that she could be more than 15 years old.

But as I looked up, I saw my classmates glancing between the new girl and me.

"Holy fuck." Gray mumbled, staring at the new girl.

I followed his gaze, and my heart stopped beating.

"She looks like you, dude." Gray said quietly.

She was looking around the room, confused. Her eyes never met mine, though. She had my eyes. She had my fucking face.

I saw her eyes widen in fear. She bent her head back down and clenched her fists.

"Thank you, Aria." Mr. Wallace said. "Would you like to share anything else about yourself?"

"No." she mumbled quietly.

"Okay." Mr. Wallace nodded. "You can go back to your seat."

She started walking back to her desk, keeping her head low. My classmates tried to look at her face again, but her hair was covering it, and it was impossible to get a good look at her.

"Do you have any cousins that you are not aware of?" Gray asked me.

"Nope." I mumbled, staring at the girl. "Just the two you already know. There are no girls in our family."

"She looks like she could be a part of your family." Gray mumbled, staring at her as well.

I watched as she picked up her pen and opened her notebook. Her hands were shaking.

"What did she say that her name was?" I asked Gray, keeping my eyes fixated on her.

I wasn’t even listening when she introduced herself. I only heard when she said that she was 17 years old.

"Aria." Gray said.

Aria.

I furrowed my eyebrows, trying to remember if I'd heard anyone in my family mention that name. I couldn’t remember hearing that name mentioned ever.

I shook my head and forced myself to look away. It was a coincidence. I was sure that she didn’t even look that much like me. We saw her face for only a few seconds. I was sure that I wouldn’t find that many similarities once I got a good look at her face.

It was the weirdest thing that ever happened to me, though.

I glanced at her again. She was pulling on the sleeve of her hoodie. I could see how much she was shaking.

My heart tugged in my chest, but I looked away.

She was not my problem.
