Henry POV

She really was my daughter.

I had no doubt whatsoever, but it was so nice to have an official confirmation, mostly because Aria didn’t believe it. I was so happy that we finally had proof. I was so happy that my little girl finally knew the truth.

I kissed the top of her head and motioned for Gabriel to take her into his arms.

He pulled her back onto his lap, and she wrapped her arms around his neck immediately.

I needed to call Owen.

I needed to call Julian. He would never forgive me if I kept her from him. Maybe I should give her a little bit more time, but I knew that Julian would want to know immediately. I will definitely talk to Aria before I call him. I didn’t want to do anything that would make her uncomfortable.

I started with Owen.

I found his number in my phone and pressed dial.

He answered after the second ring.

“The hospital just called.” he said immediately. “Congratulations, man. I am so happy for you and for her. She deserves a loving family.”

“She will definitely have that.” I said, looking at my daughter. “I want to know why they took her, Owen. If you can’t get it out of them, let me talk to them.”

Gabriel glanced up at me and nodded. I knew he wanted to do the same, but I wouldn’t be letting him anywhere near them. I didn’t want him involved, and I didn’t want him to get hurt. They have already hurt one of my children. I would be damned if I let them hurt Gabriel too.

“That won’t happen, Henry.” Owen sighed. “I know that you would do much more than just talk to them. I will get them to tell me the truth, don’t worry. Focus on your daughter and let me deal with them.”

I clenched my fists and tightened my jaw.
He was right. I needed to focus on my little girl, not on those motherfuckers.

But it was hard to ignore the anger.

“Call me when you know something.” I said, taking a deep breath and trying to calm myself down.

“Of course.” Owen said.

I hung up the phone and sat back down next to my children.

Aria wasn’t crying anymore, but she was still holding on to Gabriel as tightly as she could.

“Baby?” I called her softly as I ran my fingers through her hair.

She looked up at me. Her eyes were puffy and red. Her cheeks were wet with tears.

“You need to eat something, love.” I said, wiping the tears from her cheeks.

“I am not hungry.” she mumbled quietly.

“I know.” I said, giving her a small smile. “But you still need to eat, love. We need to start building up your appetite.”

I ran a blood test and found that she was severely malnourished and dehydrated. I needed to feed her properly and make sure that she reached a healthy weight for her age and her height.

“Dad is right.” Gabriel said as he kissed the top of her head. “You need to eat.”

“Something small, baby.” I said softly. “You don’t even have to eat everything, but you need to eat just a little bit. Okay?”

She nodded, burying her head back into Gabriel’s neck.

“I will make you something, and I will call you when it’s done, okay?” I said as I stood up.
