It was pretty hard to give a complete description of this AU (after all the name speaks for itself), there's not that many things that changes, except the most obvious. So I tried to give an okay summary and give some details about which directions I want this AU to go. Hope ya'll can make something out of it

By the way, I showed some of the designs of these AU, made with Picrews, on Instagram, so if any of you are interested, you can still go take a look. And of course, I draw them sometimes.
I just really don't feel any motivation to put a physical description for each character here (and I don't have one for everyone yet).

The human AU is, like its name suggests, an AU in which countries are humans instead of being CH. There's nothing special about it (the characters are still the same, just their species is different) except how it's interesting to wonder what would the countries (and other) have done if they simply were like anyone else.

It can come in a positive outcome (them being able to live their social relationships without politics finding its way in) and a negative one (the injunctions and stupid human-made ideas like sexism, homophobia and all these kind of discrimination affecting them, at the opposite of how careless of these things they are as CH).

For example, Fredly's tokophobia is worst in this AU because she is part of a species filled with maternity injunctions that were pushed, voluntarily or not, onto her since she was young. Which is not the case for the CH species who, to be vulgar, do not give a shit about it. And this could be applied to most of the characters as lots of them are queer, non-gender conforming or just women in general.

The main issue I face when thinking about this AU was how to transcribed CH age into human's. The problem is that humans are mortal beings, eventually getting old and dying while countries are semi-immortal, stop aging at one point and live for hundreds or even thousands of years. So how can I translate these hundred years of life into a human who's not supposed to survive that long ?

The only solution I found was to make multiple versions for multiple time periods, like sub-AUs. For now, I have two full fetched ones : the nowadays version and the WW2 version. Of course, there could be more in the future.

The nowadays version is a version where all the characters who are supposed to still be alive today (2020s or even 2010s) live the classical lives of our day and age. I like to see it more as a sort of sitcom, I want to put an emphasis on funny stuff, care about the characters, their relationships, their everyday lives...

In this versions, Friedrich and Vladislav are a happily married couple, living together with their son, Mischa, who is a student in college. Fredly, unemployed and unable to stay living with her family, decided to stay at Mischa's place for an unknown amount of time (probably forever). Friedrich accepted her in his home (he's even trying to help her get a job) as they had been friends for an long time. With Vladislav, she has one of those stereotypical opposed step father/child relationships.

This is only a small part of this version as it is, as a whole, quite broad. But sadly, I can't talk about everything and I didn't even have thought of everything yet. So most development has to be done in possible future fics.

The WW2 version is a version centered around WW2, obviously, that gives a place to the characters within the conflict. The interesting aspect of this version is how the characters are spectators of history (unlike how they are actors of history as countries). Here, we simply have people finding their place and role in a context of war and hardships.

The main characters I thought about are Fredly who, just like in the main headcanon, will join and fight with the French resistance, will end up captured and won't have a good time. Friedrich is the son of a definitely not nice SS officer, while being an anti-nazi resistant and so putting himself in dangerous situations. He also tries to protect his twin brother from either becoming a nazi because of propaganda or being at risk because of his involvement in the resistance.

Vladislav is a soldier in the red army who almost got sent into a prisoner's camp after he got caught but managed to be saved by Friedrich, who helped him escape (their first contact before they fell in love).

Lorène was a simple young woman, she was living with Aurélien, as he was the only person who accepted to help her after her mother's death and as a tactic to make people shut up with their "why isn't she married yet ? She needs a man" kind of shit. As she was the illegitimate daughter of an old imperial high-ranked German officer from WW1, she managed to convince the German soldiers to leave her alone on her holy land of Lorraine. (And as it made her the illegitimate half-sister of a high-ranked SS, so it did helped, even though she was pretty pissed off to know she had as a brother one of the people she deeply hated.) She then managed to survive the war while still being very hostile toward the nazi ideology (which she qualifies as complete shit).

And then there's Renelde, who was a veteran from WW1. She had managed to be enrolled in the German army by using her newly gained German nationality after the annexation of Alsace-Lorraine and by crossdressing (because thank you sexism). Now, after the war and with the beginning of the second one, she's even more angry at the world (except Aurélien, he's her little bean) and obviously doesn't support nazism (they hated her too, that's reciprocal) and will most likely exist within the resistance.

Like the previous version, there's obviously more characters but these are the ones I thought about the most. Like the other one, there's a lot of things to develop outside of these five characters.
