Vicky was lay in her bed. It was the middle of the night and the wind was rattling the windows, keeping the tired girl up. Her eyes were aching and her head banging as she just prayed for some peace. Just as she was about to drift off into the land of nod, a sound startled her back to reality. It was coming from tommys room and she recognised it straight away. Moaning sounds. Gross. Vicky was unfortunately quite used to being burdened with hearing the audio to her fathers sex life, as he wasn't particularly quiet, neither was grace. The most she could do was out a pillow over her ear.

As she rolled over to do just that, a voice echoed throughout the house

"Oh god Mr shelby" it wasn't grace. It wasn't grace. It wasn't grace. Vicky kept repeating the sentence in her head in astonishment. It wasn't grace. Tommy was a cunt, she knew that, but she certainly didn't expect him to cheat on grace. Oh poor grace. Vicky loved the woman deeply and knew that she wouldn't stick around if Tommy was cheating.

Vicky got from her bed, ready to confront Tommy. He had to know that he'd been caught. And vicky needed answers. With so much crap going on right now in their lives, did he enjoy tearing the family apart? Because that's all he's been doing this past year, ruining her life. Vicky crept through the halls until she got to Tommy's room where the moaning was getting louder. She braced herself and opened the door, walking in silently

"Well don't mind me" she muttered crossing her arms and raising an eyebrow at Tommy who quickly covered himself up. Vicky turned around as the pair of them put their clothes back on. Vicky was about to question them when the woman was handed some money and then left

"You cheated on grace for a whore? A whore? Not even someone you loved? But a fucking whore? How could you do that to her?" Vicky screamed at him, steam coming out her ears. Tommy sat down on the bed, his head in his hands

"Look at me" vicky said quietly. When he didn't move, she slapped his chest repeatedly as she cried until he grabbed her wrists and looked her in the eyes

"Vicky, I am sorry, but grace has gone. OK? She's gone, me and her are finished and she isn't coming back" vicky stepped back and rubbed her tired eyes, shaking her head in disbelief

"No...no you're wrong. Go find her and tell her it's time to come home" her voice wobbled as she spoke, tears streaming down her face.

"She was a spy. She says she left the job a year after I'd found you, but I can't believe her. Either way, she was giving our secrets to the king" Tommy told her, his own voice had no emotion in it, as per usual

"Are you OK?" For the first time in forever, vicky cared for Tommy. She was still pissed at him, but he loved grace and would surely be hurt. Although there wasn't much emotion in her question, it meant an awful lot to Tommy

"I don't need her. I'll be fine, don't you worry about me. What about you, are you OK?" Vicky looked down at the floor thinking of a response

"I'll take that silence as a no. You wanna talk about it?" He asked. Vickys fingers ran through her hair as she walked up and down the room

"Why can't adults keep promises? I would genuinely like to know! I just don't understand it at all! If I make a promise, I'll do everything in my power to stick to it. But for adults, making a promise seems like a way to shut kids up. No one seems to care when they're broken, it means nothing to any of you if it isn't legally binding. It's so fucked up"

"It's a fucked up world vicky. Im sorry you've had to find that out so soon. People are selfish. I'm not except from that. We do what we can to make our own lives easier. Sometimes it back fires, other times it works. Life is a gamble love" tommy explains but she just shakes her head

"Stop it! Stop talking to me like you know what I'm going through! Everyone has it tough, I get that. You have issues as do I! But you can't sit there and tell me that the world is fucked up and that people are selfish, when you are the person who makes my life a fuck up. If it weren't for you, I could've been adopted by a lovely couple, living in the fucking country side or something, I don't know. What I do know, is that the only reason my life is shit, is because of people like you" vicky spat at him, raging at the thought of her father. He was a disgrace to her, yet when she saw that tear slip down his cheek, all her rage went away

"You loved her didn't you?" Vicky asks quietly sitting down next to him

"I did yes"

"Then I'm sorry she left. For that, I can not blame you, only her. Its not your fault dad. I promise it isnt" vicky was as shocked as Tommy when she flung her arms around him and cried into his shoulder. He automatically wrapped his arms around her, his hand stroking her back as she sobbed

"I just want everything to go back to normal. I want you to be happy, even if you have pissed me off. She made you happy" Tommy pulled away and cupped vickys cheeks making her look at him

"You have made me a very happy man tonight just with that hug. OK? We don't need her, I promise, I'm turning things around my darling"

"I know you are dad, I know, and I'm trusting you" he kisses her forehead

"Thank you. I won't let you down. Not ever again, you hear me" vicky smiles through the tears when Tommy wipes them away. That night, vicky stayed in Tommy's bed. She still knew who he was, and the horrible things he'd done, but in that moment, she wasn't angry. Upset maybe, but not angry. She'd spent a year being angry and it made her feel no better. So what was the point? Vicky stayed with Tommy, worried that his mind would take him back to the tunnels. Now grace wasn't here, she didn't want him to wake up scared and alone. They were in this together
