Peter took vicky to his house. She was nervous, very nervous but so happy. Everything was falling into place, she just wished Tommy could see how lovely her brothers are, maybe then she wouldn't have to sneak behind his back. As they got to the house, vicky recognised it as the house Joshua always wanted to buy. He always told her
"When I have a good job, with good income, our family will live there" it was a nice family home, smaller than what she had at home, but still rather gorgeous. If it wasn't for the smell of alcohol stenching the streets, she might have even loved it
"Are you ready love?" Vicky nods although unsure and Peter opens the door for her. He guides her through to the living room. 2 men, sat smoking with a bottle of whiskey in their hands. A woman half naked was in the process of getting dressed
"Ay up! Peters brought another one home"
"She's a stunner. Where'd you find her?"
"I call dibs on first touch"
"Guys! This is vicky, our vicky, she's come home boys" they take a second to properly look at her as she does them. She's obviously grown up, got more of a womanly figure. As for her brothers, the only difference is their eyes and hair. Their eyes are baggier and their hair wired with greys spotted about. Their beards more untidy than she remembers
"By God's good grace, it really is her. God vicky, havnt you grown" Danny laughs hugging and kissing his sister. Joshua does the same
"Sit sit, tell us, what's been going on with you?" They ask. Vicky smiles at them, just thrilled to be home again. She sits down and starts talking
"After our mam died, i went into an orphanage and then I was in and out of foster homes"
"Did they treat you right?" Danny asking pouring some ale for her
"Some of them. Some were lovely and they just wanted to help. Others only wanted the money or a cleaner. But I lived. Found my father. Tommy shelby. Been living with him ever since. But of course, you know that"
"Vic, those letters, we didn't want them to be so harsh, but we needed him to be scared so we could get you back. You're our sister. Why did it take you so long to come back?" Joshua asks
"I didn't know you wanted me. I went into an orphanage and never heard from you. I assumed you never fought for custody or anything. Tommy never told me, I didn't even think he knew about you. But clearly he did. If he had told me, I would've come to you sooner" vicky tells them and they nod
"So, still need this bugger then ay?" Danny asks going to stroke bouncer but he growls in response
"Need and want. He's my best friend. My seizures aren't as bad as they were, I have some moments when they don't stop for weeks, and then I won't have one for ages. I'm hoping I'll grow out of it" vicky decided not to mention the cancer. Her brothers, as lovely as they are, she wasn't sure they'd understand. Probably tell her that she was just being dramatic, that doctors don't know anything. They said that when she had her first seizure
"So, what about this Tommy guy? He sounds like a crap father" Peter says
"No, no he's good. We have our times when I could kill him. Sometimes he makes silly mistakes. But he's my father, I love him and he tries his best to protect me. That's not always easy when he's leader of the peaky blinders. But he tries his best. I've not necessarily been the best daughter to him"
"Don't say that, he's a horrid man vicky. He kills people. You realise he is manipulating you right. Innocent people die, and here you are defending him because what? Because he tucks you in at night and buys you pretty clothes? Open your eyes vic, Thomas shelby doesn't deserve to breathe, never mind be a father" Danny snaps
"No he's nice, I swear. He's just abit rough around the edges. He does everything for a reason and those reasons are to protect the people he loves"
"Do you hear yourself? Those are his words, not yours. Words he has forced into your brain. No doubt he's told you those words time and time again, has he? He's don't things, you've gotten angry so he's given you some speech about how it's all for the greater good of your family. Well guess what, Thomas shelby is a liar" Joshua says
"I...I don't know"
"Do you trust us?" Peter asks
"I...yes of course I do"
"Then listen to this, you don't ever have to leave home. He is a manipulative bastard. Bet he told you lies about us aswell. What are we in his eyes, theives, rapists, murderers? We are none of those things. He just wants to pin you against us" Peter continues
"Tommy is my father, I love him" vicky whispers
"Of course you do. He's made you love him. But deep down, you know what he's truly like. A monster. Probably risked your life for his own wellbeing if he had to"
"I'm very tired, please can I go to bed?"
"Of course love, don't have to ask. I'll show you to your room" Danny says. As they walk up the stairs, she can't help but think about what they said. Tommy almost had her hung. He almost killed her for his own personal gaine. She wanted to love him and know that he loved her. But after everything she'd heard, she wasn't so sure. Bouncer followed behind. His ears were pricked and he seemed on edge which worried vicky. What was wrong with him? Was he sick, or just scared? Either way, she was sure he'd stay with her tonight
