"You coming to the rec room?" Soap questioned me as I debated between that and going to bed.
"Sure, I guess," I shrugged, deciding maybe I could get to know this König a little better before getting barked orders. If he's anything like Ghost, I'm going to want to blow off some steam before dealing with him.
We wandered our way to the rec room, Soap begging to game first like he always does. I let him, even though I almost wanted to myself. Anything to take my mind off the fact that I'm blind on a mission where I'm first-time, sniping somebody. Price always knew what he was doing, and chose the right people for the right job. I've got to trust his instinct, but why not use somebody with higher qualifications? Hell, he's got a guy training me, why not just have him go on this mission?
I could hear footsteps behind me, so I turned around, once again seeing the mountainous man entering the rec room. He stared at me for a moment, clearly thinking hard about something. We made eye contact, and the silence- besides Soap yelling about his game- dug into my stomach. Something about this new guy was off-putting.
"Y/n, L/n. Right?" He asked finally, grabbing the attention of everyone else.
"That's the name. König, correct?"
He gently nodded, pausing and awkwardly standing in the hallway.
"Come on, come join us. You're part of this team," Soap laughed, swinging his arm around me and dragging me in to show König our team-like behavior. I guess anyway. I pushed Soap's arm off of me, glaring at him as König made his way in.
"You get a tour yet?" I inquired him. His grey eyes again stuck out like a sore thumb. He shook his head, holding his hands, twiddling his thumbs together.
"Here, I'll show you what I know. Soap, when I'm back, I'm takin' over," I ordered, knowing it went through one ear and out the other. I stood up, pulling my shoulders back and letting them pop. König followed, yet he towered over me. Jesus. Intimidating. He stood over a foot taller than me, and to even make eye contact with him, I had to crane my neck almost to the ceiling. I immediately took him to the bunks, making sure he knew where he was staying. Luckily enough, he was right across from me.
"Here's your room," I opened it for him, letting him go inside and explore for a minute. I hung behind, standing in the doorway as he searched the room. I'm not sure why maybe to see if his stuff had made it to his room yet. More than likely not, and even I am unsure if they had clothes in there for him that fit. After doing his little ritual, he returned to the doorway, showing me he was ready to go again.
"Of course, where you walked into, this is the rec room. Quiet time is 10 pm-6 am. However, not everyone abides by that," I glared at Soap as he yelled at his game again. König nodded, following me as I took him outside, walking him towards our training building. The walk was only 5 minutes, yet it felt like it lasted for hours. I listened to his footsteps behind me, unsure how exactly to talk to him. He gave off such a strong don't bother me vibe that I didn't feel like playing with.
"Um... This is our trainin' room. Usually, I'm in here around 6 in the mornin'. You'll find Ghost here at 5, and Soap is never steady. There's everythin' you could ever need in here," I moved my left arm in a wide motion, letting him explore again. I watched his demeanor. For such a huge guy, he took such gentle and small steps. He ducked through the doorframes, placing his hand on top so he could judge where his helmet would fit. Poor guy. Once again, after he finished exploring, he found me again, waiting to see if there was any more.
"That's kinda it. The rest is abandoned or open fields. If you have any questions, Ghost, Soap and I will answer them," I shifted my weight, uncomfortable with his silence. He again, stood there, looking down at me in silence. Why does he just sit there and stare? I watched him as he shifted his weight from foot to foot, messing with his hands again.
"Meet me here. 6 in the morning." He ordered his voice filled with a little conviction. I nodded, making my way back toward the bunks, but he cleared his throat, making me turn around again. Once again, he stood there quietly staring me down, shifting his weight. I lifted an eyebrow, waiting for him to speak.
"..I.." He started, avoiding eye contact again. I drew in a breath, quietly sighing. I hope he doesn't do this while training.
"Danke (Thank you)," He whispered, still avoiding eye contact. I could see his pale face slowly turning pink through the eye holes.
"Yeah, no worries. See ya in the morin'," I waved, making my way back to my bunk. The sun was beginning to set, arguing with me to go to bed. He's strange. Strangely cute. I laughed, shaking my head, and feeling my blush creep on my face. I only hope he knew what he was doing.
I made my way back to the rec room, finding Soap and Ghost arguing over something.
"What are y'all goin' on 'bout?" I asked them, seeing the two ease up whenever I made it. For whatever reason, it seemed like I always sorted out their arguments. They always got so heated over the dumbest things.
"We made a bet on something, and he says I'm stupid for thinking so soon." Soap tried to be as vague as possible, yet he made himself unable to be understood.
"Wha- just forget I asked. Goodnight, I've got trainin' at 6," I waved them off with my hand, signaling them to be quiet.
"What about you gaming?" Soap asked me.
"Tomorrow. For now, I'm sleepin'."
I made my way to my room, noticing that König's door was left slightly cracked. I debated being nosey, curious how he managed to get back to his room before me. He must have found some way to sneak by, not catching my attention. I peered in for a moment, catching him removing the last layer of his gear. His shoulder blades were toned, and his body was clearly muscular. I could see a couple of scars that ran along his back. But before I could finish examining them, I caught his grey eyes, flusteredly staring at me in confusion.
"Mierda! (Shit)" I whispered, feeling my face instantly warming up, and I rushed into my room.
