Christmas Short Story Prompts

Dec 23rd; The Christmas Tree

I Do not own any of the characters or places mentioned, I am just having a bit of fun with them for a little while!

This story was written in correlation with MagicofNarnia's posted prompt list, which also does not belong to me.

Lucy age, 9
Susan age, 13

Lucy looked up at the undecorated Christmas tree with anticipation; none of the boys had been free to help with the tree decorating, but they had told Susan and Lucy to do it without them, so that's what they were doing.

Together, they carried the box of decorations over to where the tree was and carefully set it down.

Then the two girls got to work.

They laughed and joked with each other as they talked excitedly about their first Narnian Christmas ball while they hung the garland.

And while they laughed about a funny story Mr. Tumnus had told them, they hung up the red, blue, green, and gold bulbs.

Next was the handmade ornaments made by themselves and their subjects, which prompted a discussion on the craftsmanship of each one.

Then came putting the star up at the top of the tree, which meant they had to find a ladder and someone tall enough to put it on for them.

And when the star had been placed at the top, Susan and Lucy got into a discussion with the faun about his love of heights.

Then came the lighted candles, which were carefully lighted in order to keep a fire from starting, which caused the two queens to begin discussing how many buckets of water should be on hand in case of a fire.

Then they found the perfect tree skirt, but only after looking in half the closets in the castle for it, which took more time than they liked, and this of course which had it's own distractions, so there was that.

Then their was more decorating, preparations and searches made for just the right items, and lots of detours made, and some cleaning, and more decorating.

So, by the time Susan and Lucy had actually slowed down, the day was almost over, and both sisters couldn't think how such a busy day had started with the only plan being to decorate the Christmas Tree!
