Chapter 24: ChunChunmaru

"Hey... why hasn't Darkness come back yet?"

It's been a week since what happened in Alcarentia.

Unfortunately, even though there existed a huge bounty on his head, we received practically nothing from Hans. In fact, no one in the city's guild believed our story, and we left alongside Aqua, who was still being treated as the culprit behind the hot spring's containment.

When we returned, Darkness received an urgent letter from her father and had to leave immediately. Kazuma mentioned she has left in the past to see her family, but never for so long

Because it could prove difficult to take on quests without Darkness, we stayed inside the mansion. Kazuma spent most of his time working on something called a Kotatsu.

Design-wise, it was nothing but a table with a blanket on top.

But absorbing one's mana, the inside of the blanket would increase in temperature and keep people warm as a result.

How it worked, I have no idea.

He did this as part of a line of items designed to be sold alongside Wiz's usual merchandise, but as soon as I crawled under it-

I saw Megumin's thin legs move toward me

When she bent her knees, I reacted accordingly and hid my head under the blanket

"C'mon Y/N, you have been hiding here since Monday..."

Megumin lifted the entire blanket

She had such a warm smile on her face and of course, I attacked her with Drain Touch

"Ahhh my head" She embraced her head after I stole mana from her "I... I can't believe it, he is fighting back!"

*Growls*

Megumin's smile quickly gave way to a stunned look

Someone else bent their knees near me, reeking of alcohol

"Don't tell me Kazuma's invetion turned you into a Hiki-neet too"

I used dark bind to stop her as her hand was about to reach for the Kotatsu. And then released her as Aqua desperately waved her feet, tripping from the sudden momentum and rolling over on the carpet
