Mandatory meetings

Despite being stabbed twice a quick visit from Recovery Girl was all it took for Y/N to be able to stand on his feet again, of course that didn't come without a mandatory recovery period prescribed to him by the elderly heroine. Which lead to the H/C haired man to his current predicament, he'd been benched by a medical professional and his wife so he wouldn't be able to partake in hero work for while.

Physically Inquisitive was was out of commission, the wooden stakes had done a number on his body so any activity that could potentially physically strain his body was a no go

Well technically all hero work wasn't off the table since he was visited in the hospital by someone who was very intrigued by a certain detail from his encounter with the three villains, so he had to type up a report of the events that transpired as well as attend a meeting

The life a hero wasn't always catching crooks and selling merchandise, a good portion of what happened behind the capes was paperwork

Paperwork heroes would usually have their sidekicks do

Sidekicks Inquisitive didn't have

Needless to say life wasn't all to interesting for this father of three at the moment

Currently he was writing the aforementioned document while the TV played some cartoon in the background with his daughter by his side who watched said cartoon, she was uncharacteristically focused on the show which was odd behaviour for her considering she inherited her father's short attention span.

Besides that recently Y/N had began to notice some of her unusual behaviour, her smile never reached her eyes and it looked less and less genuine the more he saw it, he didn't witness when this began but he had to a good idea of the when and why.

Sighing to himself he placed his laptop to his side and reached for the remote to lower the volume of the television, this made Kotori's unblinking eyes finally cease being glued to the screen as she questioned why it suddenly became harder to hear, she's only four so her ears couldn't be failing her already could they? That only happens to old wrinkly people

A cough next to her caught her attention and she turned to see her dad, when did he get here?

Answer?

She had been too focused on watching a cartoon version of her dad to see the real deal turn up

Y/N looked directly at his daughter if he could speak to Kaina again — the woman who had made him the man he was today — a four year old he had raised should be a piece of cake

He'd heard enough from other parents (and Shino) how most children tended to withhold their troubles from their parents and weren't thrilled whenever they were confronted about them, but sitting back and idling would get them nowhere so he'd have to push them through this whether she wanted it or not

Y/N: "Kotori" his address to her was softer than his usual voice, an indicator this would be a serious topic

Golden eyes only blankly stared up at him and blinked

Kotori: "Y/N" mimicking her brother, she called the man she'd always referred to as 'dad' or 'daddy' by his first name

Needless to say it felt weird to Y/N to hear his kid call him by his first name but he digressed

Y/N: "Is everything alright with you?" He edged ever closer to her, not to intimidate her but comfort her should the worst be true

The rather broad and open ended question slightly confused Kotori, tilting her head slightly she responded

Kotori: "Uh yeah, I'm not sick or nothing" she felt her forehead and confidently nodded any doubts away seeing she didn't have a temperature

Y/N mentally scolded himself for his lack of specificity and regretted not having discussed this with Tomoko before confronting her, but he was in far too deep to retreat now so he steadied his resolve and pushed on
