3rd Person POV

1996

It's been three months.

It's been three months since he last saw Jungkook and it fucking hurts not to know if he is doing fine or not.

If he is still alive or not.

Taehyung held the photograph of Jungkook, a polaroid that was taken when everything was fine and no war was going on between north and south Korea.

Jungkook was in his civil clothes, giving away a bright bunny smile to the camera as he held Taehyung's waist in his free hand which was not used to post a peace sign by his eye. And Taehyung was wearing an oversized hood of Jungkook with shorts, with one hand falling limply by his side and the other hand doing the same peace sign as Jungkook.

Behind them is a huge merry-go-round wheel with little bulbs which lit the night sky.

The carnival Jungkook took Taehyung to before he had to go to serve the country.

Jungkook held the pillow closer to his chest on a lonely night as his mind played the flashback making his tears escape all the boundaries he had built.

Although their love was prohibited by society, they still fought for each other. And it hurts.

Jungkook is not there by his side and had to serve in the military since he is older than 18 and Taehyung didn't because he is younger.

"Do you really have to go?" Taehyung asked as he sat on the bed, too weak to do anything since he had caught a fever yesterday.

"Yes, baby. I'm sorry but it's my duty. Yeah? We gotta protect the country. I need to protect the country for you and for everyone to live a happy life." Jungkook said as he put on his military cap, and stood in front of the mirror, completing his uniform.

'I'm not happy without you though.' Taehyung almost said but held his words back.

He is being selfish, isn't he?

There are so many soldiers who even sacrificed their lives while having wives, children, and parents to take care of but Taehyung still selfishly wants to keep Jungkook from going to war which can take Jungkook away from him forever.

"Promise me," Taehyung said.

"Promise you what, love?" Jungkooks gentle voice felt like heaven. It was soothing Taehyung's headache but it wasn't helping his heartache.

"Promise me that you will be back." He said, glancing at Jungkook with his teary eyes. Jungkook bit down his lips as his heart slowly felt heavy at the poor state of his younger. He leaned down and pecked Taehyung's warm forehead. Taehyung's sigh in contentment was enough for Jungkook's ears, heart, and soul.

"I promise you to be back. I'll be home in no time." But the tears in Taehyung's eyes only increased before his big doe eyes couldn't hold them anymore as crystal pearls rolled down his cheeks and soaked the younger's t-shirt.

"I'm sorry baby." Jungkook kissed Taehyung's temple looking sadly at his sulky husband.

"I have to go, love. It's my duty to serve the country when I'm needed. It's a must, yeah?" Jungkook said before Taehyung could even nod and say it's okay, a horn of a jeep to which Jungkook looked up, tearing his gaze from Taehyung's face and starry eyes which he was lost in and put on his bag hurriedly.
