1 day left...

'Today is the day this killing game ends.'

Kaito Momota woke up thinking such a resolute thought while hacking. This no longer surprised him, but it was still unnerving to see the blood on the hands, signifying the time ticking down until...

'Until...?'

He shut down the thought before it went any further and started the day. Get to breakfast, meet up with Miu. It had already been a few days since he commissioned weapons from her and he was hoping for some results.

He had planned to visit yesterday but after his run-in with Maki, who confronted him about his plan of commissioning weapons from Miu and learning that she was upgrading the weapons from the Ultimate Assassin's Lab made him decide to wait another day. He also had explained his plan to Maki and admitted that he didn't want to show it to her or anyone else until he was absolutely sure things were in order and could work, which she had responded with a sigh and a knock at the head for being an idiot.

In the meantime, he tried to have a meaningful yesterday by confronting Shuichi, finding out more about the Gofer Project's end goals and trying to make sure things won't go too far. Too many deaths happened, and another one shouldn't happen under any circumstances if he could help it.

He wanted to have a meaningful today, hoping to end this killing game once and for all before it's too late and determinedly headed to the Academy, for breakfast and the hope that Miu would come to the cafeteria so he could finally ask her about his commission. If not, he will make a stop at her Lab.

His determination stopped short of surprise when he entered the Academy, to be met with... one heck of a mess. Just from the entrance, the floors were marked with tracks and cracks. The walls looked scratched and cracked itself. Kaito was sure just yesterday when he left the Academy to go back to his dorm rooms, it was in pristine condition. What on earth could have happened in the night?

"Harumaki, do you have any idea what happened?" Kaito asked, towards Maki who had been inspecting the scene. Both were early risers, and it seemed this time, Maki woke up earlier than Kaito. Maybe the rest hadn't seen this yet.

"I have some ideas," Maki said in a clipped tone, and Kaito wondered if she was still salty over his adamance of not telling her about his commission towards Miu in the first place or, in Maki's own words, generally being an idiot. For now, that didn't matter.

"What are they, Harumaki?" Kaito asked.

Maki pointed at the tracks, which at a closer look, could only come from a vehicle.

"This has Ouma written all over it. He's the only one with a car to even do this in that Ultimate Lab of his. The Lab is also locked out to people unless he shares his passcode which is unlikely. Overall, he's the most obvious suspect," Maki said.

"Well, there is that," Kaito said, his eyes roving all over the destruction once more to let it sink in, "But he's not the only suspect, isn't he? Isn't it more likely Monokuma and the Monokubs did this to rouse our suspicions against one of us? I mean if it's them, they can access anywhere they please and getting the car to do this wouldn't be so far-"

"I object to this accusation!" Someone shouted, which turned out to be Monokuma, who popped out right in front of them much to their surprise as the immediately put their guards up.

Not far behind, the rest of the Monokubs, Monotaro and Monophanie came up with their usual catchphrase to chastise the duo in the same fashion as Monokuma.

"Yeah, why do we even want to destroy the Academy?" Monotaro asked.

"The cost and everything... although it's more Monosuke's expertise. But it's not worth it!" Monophanie huffed at them.
