Today was England U17 squad announcement. Evie and Leah were eating dinner when some texts came through in the team group chat.

Kiyana: Got the email!

Poppy: Me too!!

Taliah: I'm so excited to go to Spain!

Sadie: Same :)

Evie checked her emails and found that nothing had come through. That was odd. She'd been playing really well recently. Why wasn't she in the squad?

"You alright?" Leah asked when she saw the concerned look on her face.

"Everyone else has a squad email but I haven't got one," Evie replied, refreshing her email to see if anything would come through.

"Maybe it hasn't sent yet?"

"Maybe?" Evie said uncertainly.

It was also Arnold Clark Cup squad announcement day and Leah had already received the call. It crossed her mind that maybe Evie would get a call up but she didn't say anything as she didn't want to raise the girls hopes. Evie had been playing extremely well and the call would be deserved.

They were just doing the washing up when Evie's phone began to ring. Unknown number. That was odd. It couldn't be Paul as she had his number saved so it was probably some random person trying to sell stuff.

"Answer it," Leah told her, knowing that it could be Sarina.

"What? Why?"

"It might be important."

Evie picked up and held the phone to her ear.

"Hello Evie, this is Sarina Wiegman speaking," the voice from the other end said. Evie was stunned. She didn't know what to say.

"H-hi," she managed to croak out.

"We would love for you to come down and be a part of our Arnold Clark Cup squad."

"Really?" She had not been expecting that.

"Yes. Your recent form is incredible and we would be stupid to not call you up."

"Wow. Thank you."

"I will email over some details and then we will see you soon," Sarina said before hanging up.

Evie stood in a state of shock.

"Well?" Leah asked.

"Fucking hell. I've been called up for the Arnold Clark Cup."

"Oh my god I'm so proud of you!" Leah said excitedly as she hugged her.

Today was the day that they travelled to St George's Park. It had taken Leah a full two hours to calm Evie's nerves down. She'd explained how it worked, how lovely the girls were and how she would be completely fine.

"I'm sorry for being so tiring," Evie apologised as they were sat in the car, ready to set off.

"You aren't tiring," Leah told her truthfully. Evie really wasn't. She took a lot of reassurance but that was something Leah didn't mind doing. She always wanted to make sure that the little girl was happy and comfortable.

A few days previously they'd drawn nil nil with Chelsea so the stress of the title race was still on.

As they pulled up to the large building, Evie easily could've been going to an U17s camp. Except she wasn't. She was playing with the seniors.

They walked into the main reception relatively early and found only a handful of people already there.

"Hey kiddo. Hey Leah," Beth said from her seat next to someone Evie recognised as Millie Bright.
