The wooden outside the dimly lit bar gently swung back and forth. "The Hard Deck" was etched in bold letters, beckoning aviators and adventure-seekers alike. Inside, the air was thick with laughter and the clinking of glasses.

Rooster stood at the counter, nursing his whiskey and taking in the atmosphere. Dressed in a leather jacket adorned with patches, he exuded an aura of confidence and charm.

A few tables away, Lieutenant Jamie "Snow" Barnes sat alone, sipping on her drink. Her icy blue eyes were locked on Rooster, unwavering, as if she could see straight through his soul. Her intense gaze caught his attention, piquing his curiosity. Rooster, never one to shy away from a challenge, made his way towards her.

"Mind if I join you, miss?" Rooster flashed a smile, his eyes filled with mischief.

Snow, startled by his sudden approach, but smirked nonetheless. "Sure, go ahead," she replied, her voice carrying a hint of intrigue.

Rooster took the seat across from her, studying her features. Snow had a confident aura about her, her striking eyes revealing a depth of experience. There was something familiar in the way she carried herself, but Rooster couldn't quite put his finger on it.

"Is there a reason you've been staring at me all evening?" Rooster asked, leaning in closer.Snow's chuckled before taking a sip of her beet. "I apologize, it's just that your resemblance to someone I know... it caught me off guard," she explained.

Rooster raised an eyebrow, intrigued by her words. "Oh? And who might that be?"

She hesitated for a moment, then spoke softly, "James Barnes. He was my father."

Rooster's eyes widened in surprise. James "Bucky" Barnes, the legendary war hero who survived Hydra and assisted to take them down less than a decade ago. Rooster had heard tales of his daring escapades from his own father, who had flown alongside him in the war. To encounter his daughter here, in this obscure bar, was a twist of fate he hadn't anticipated.

"I see the resemblance now," Rooster said, his voice filled with respect. "Your father was a legend. It's an honor to meet you, Snow."

A hint of a smile appeared on Snow's lips as she relaxed into her seat. "Thank you. He was a great man."

The conversation flowed effortlessly between Rooster and Snow, their shared love for aviation binding them. They exchanged stories of their adventures, their passion for the skies evident in every word. As the night wore on, Rooster found himself captivated by Snow's spirit and determination. She possessed the same fire that had driven her father to greatness.Amidst laughter and the clinking of glasses, they delved into tales of daring flights and near-death experiences. Snow recounted how her father had instilled in her a sense of fearlessness and a desire to conquer the skies. Rooster shared his own escapades, the adrenaline rush he felt with each takeoff, and the freedom he experienced soaring through the clouds.

As the clock struck midnight, Rooster found himself unable to resist the growing connection between them. With a mix of nervousness and anticipation, he cleared his throat.

"Snow, would you... um, like to go on a date with me sometime?" Rooster's voice wavered slightly.Snow's eyes widened in surprise, a hint of a smile playing on her lips. She glanced at Rooster, studying his earnest expression.

"I'd like that, Rooster," she replied, her voice filled with warmth. "But, let's keep it low-key for now. The skies have a way of throwing us unexpected curves, don't they?"

Rooster nodded, understanding the unspoken understanding between them. The life of an aviator was filled with uncertainty, but perhaps their shared love for the skies could help them navigate the challenges ahead.

In the days that followed, Rooster and Snow embarked on a series of casual adventures. They would meet up at air shows, go on spontaneous flights together (allowed or not is to be determined by Cyclone), and explore remote airfields. They discovered a sense of joy and freedom in each other's company, their bond growing stronger with every shared moment. Rooster even surprised Snow with a flight in a P-51 Mustang that belonged to his Godfather, Maverick.

Rooster had never been more grateful that he'd been so bored he craved whiskey. Without it, he wouldn't have met his future.
