3 years since I moved away from Birmingham. 3 years since I last saw Arthur Shelby, the man I loved, but was married. I've tried getting over him but to no avail. Now I return to my home of Small Heath hoping not to bump into him, fear that those feelings that I've pushed away will bubble up. However I know it's inevitable as I am moving back home to look after my parents who just so happen to live next to the Garrison, where the Shelby's frequent.
I walk down the street with my shopping when I bump into him, Arthur
"YN?"
"Hi Arthur" I give Arthur a little smile
"Where the hell have you been?" Arthur smiles pulling me into a hug
"Oh errrm. I got a new job" Arthur pulls away, but leaves his hands on my shoulders
"Are you just visiting?" he asks
"No, I moved back home to look after my parents"
"Need help?" he nods towards the bags in holding. Before I can say that I'm ok, he takes a bag from my hands and we both begin walking down the street "so when did you get back?"
"Only a few days ago" the tension in the air is so thick you could cut it with a knife
"Why don't you come to the Garrison tonight. I'm sure my brothers have missed you"
"Oh I don't ...." I'm cut off by Arthur's pleads which causes me to agree.

Walking into the garrison once again with Arthur feels familiar but also strange. I've done everything to push my feelings away, he'll I even slept with Tommy a few times. But nothing worked now I'm being dragged back into this life of sadness. Arthur opens up the door to the snug revealing the Shelby brothers and Ada
"YN YLN is that you?" I hear John shout making me giggle
"I'm back" I smile at John who envelopes me in his arms
"Well bloody missed you"
"Alright John let the woman breathe" Tommy comments with Lizzie practically on his lap. I raise an eyebrow at them then Tommy lifts up his hand to reveal a wedding band
"We wanted to invite you but we had no address" Lizzie now says
"Sorry it move was very abrupt" I sit down next to Micheal who places a glass of whiskey in front of me "thanks" I throw the drink down hoping to relieve some of the tension between me and Arthur.

The night of drinking draws a close and Arthur ends up walking me home
"Why didn't you tell anyone you were leaving?" he suddenly says as we approach my front door
"I had my reasons. Mainly you and your brothers wouldn't let me go"
"No your right we wouldn't, not without a good enough explanation that is" I sigh feeling sorry for what I did, but I had to "what are you not telling me? we grew up together. We told each other everything" Arthur frowns
"I can't tell you this. I'm sorry" I turn to open up my door but I'm stopped by Arthur placing his hand on top of mine
"Why can't you tell me?"
"Because it will ruin everything between us. Our friendship will be over"
"What did you do?" the only thing I can think of is to tell him about me and Tommy
"I slept with Tommy a few times"
"What? and that's why you had to leave?"
"Yes. No. Kind of. Look Arthur just drop it yeah?"
"There's more your not telling me. You forget I can read you like an open book" I finally look into Arthur's eyes
"Not very well because if you could you would know that I was... I am so incredibly in love with you" the words seem to just tumble out of my mouth
"What?"
"I'm sorry I shouldn't have... I need to go..." again before I can open the door I find that Arthur's lips are on mine. I quickly pull away from him "Arthur your a married man. You shouldn't be.."
"I'm a divorced man who's loved you since we were kids. I married Linda because I knew I was no good for you"
"Arthur"
"Why waste more time?" Arthur's hand cups my cheek. He lowers his head once again capturing my lips with his "please just give us a chance"
"Ok"
