CHAPTER SIX
Violet couldn't sleep after the revelation, but set her sister up to sleep when Ellie decided to go to bed. Violet sat next to her sister guns drawn as Joel and Tess sat directly across from her staring at Ellie sleeping. Her sister started muttering in her sleep, something incoherent before jumping awake at almost the same time Ellie did. Ellie turned around to see Joel and Tess staring at her. Before smartly saying,
"Good morning."
Ellie moved even the slightest inch towards Joel who quickly moved the gun slightly, on edge. Ellie sat back down before saying,
"Do I look like I'm infected?"
Violet felt her sister tug the gun down Lily glared at her rudeness. Joel spoke without emotion,
"Show us your arm."
Ellie pulled up her sleeve showing the group the healed scar, Tess and Joel stared at each other as Violet motioned for consent to touch her arm. She was amazed. How? Why? What the fuck? Ellie spoke again,
"If we are out in the open city, why aren't we being swarmed?"
Lily opened her mouth and agreed,
"I would like an answer to that question too."
Violet went to answer before Joel interrupted and told her not to worry about that and Tess spoke finally,
"What was Marlene doing with an infected kid?"
Ellie spoke back defiantly,
"I'm not infected. She found me after I was bitten."
Violet spoke confused, she knew Marlene and she was ruthless at the times she needed to be, she shot first asked questions later. Another thing they had in common.
"And they didn't shoot you?
Ellie turned her head to the woman and sighed speaking again,
"She locked me up and had her guys test me everyday to see if i was getting sick."
Tess asked about how they tested her, while Ellie just asked if she could pee to which Tess immediately shut her down and asked her again,
