CHAPTER SEVENTEEN

The bodies were found, causing Kathleen, the leader of the people who took over after FEDRA left to make the group one of the most wanted people, she was really looking for a guy named Henry.

She directed her people to find and kill them all.
Her people went door to door smashing open houses tearing everything apart to find them.

The group hid in a building, a former bar as Lily patched up her sister making her take an antibiotic straight away, but Violet didn't have much, most of her supplies were in the truck.
Joel looked out as Ellie spoke,

"They're not FEDRA, and they're not Fireflies, so who are they?"

Violet hissed in pain as Lily finished the last stitch, Joel looking back in worry before turning back around and answering Ellie,

"People."

Lily asked as Violet bandaged her leg, placing a clean pair of pants on, and struggling to stand up, so Lily helped her slightly, but Violet turned and glared at her,

"Are we okay in here?"

Violet groaned in pain quietly as she answered her sister,

"We'll be fine for now. Looks like they're checkin' out apartment buildings first. But they'll be coming through these places soon enough."

Ellie looked out of the gap in the newspaper and saw a tall building in the distance, Joel nodding as she asked if they were going there.
Joel looked at Violet before speaking to the group,

"As soon as we don't hear a truck, we move. Fast as we can."

Joel started having a heartfelt conversation with Ellie while Lily rubbed her sisters back before Violet spoke,

"I'm sorry.
I know you hate killing people—
I mean shooting, I did the killing, i'm just sorry. I should've checked my surroundings better."

Lily frowned as Violet heard Joel admitting to Ellie, struggling to get his feelings out and to speak to her,

"Thing is, is I didn't hear that guy comin', and... you shouldn't have had to... you know?"

Violet spoke agreeing,

"You're only fourteen, El, we should have protected you better."
