CHAPTER TWENTY EIGHT
When Violet got out of the shower, Joel was gone. Violet felt her heart stop as she fought off tears, Ellie opened her door ready as Tommy knocked on the front door. Violet grabbed all of her stuff, Maria had given her back her guns yesterday, which she was thankful for. But she felt empty, Joel left even after last night, even after what they did. As they rounded to the stables, Violet jumped in surprise when she saw Joel standing next to a horse, waiting there, Violet stood back as Ellie spoke,
"You came here to say goodbye or something?"
Joel looked over and sighed, continuing to fasten his gear to the horse, he spoke quickly,
"No. I came here to steal one of these horses and go."
Violet felt her heart ache as she avoided his gaze, feeling his eyes burning into her. Tommy spoke when Ellie and Violet stayed silent,
"I woulda gave you one."
Joel stopped trying the knot as he turned to them speaking softly,
"I know. Anyway... that was 30 minutes ago, and I guess... you deserve a choice. I still think you'd be better off with Tommy..."
Ellie threw the bag at his chest immediately, as Violet's eyes snapped to Joel's, Violet stood there for a second, so proud of the man in front of her. Her mouth slowly pulled into a smile as he walked towards her and softly kissed her. She melted immediately as Ellie coughed in the background causing them to tear apart, Violet turned around to Tommy asking for a horse. He nodded bringing her one immediately.
Violet climbed onto the horse at the same time Joel and Ellie got on, Ellie leaning into Joel's back making a stupid smile appear on her face. Violet thought her sister would be proud of them, she hoped. Violet spoke to Tommy,
"General direction?"
Tommy answered her immediately, taken aback by his brothers show off PDA.
"Head southeast till you hit I-25. It's right off the interstate. Shouldn't be hard to miss."
He turned towards Joel and continued,
"There's a place for you here... All of you."
Joel pointed towards Tommy sniper and he gave it to him, Violet snickering after Tommy saying yes, Joel continued pleading his case,
