"Jameson Winchester Hawthorne! Come back this instant!" I pursued him through the twisting hallways.
"No can do Cal! I'm winning!"
"Winning what? We're not even solving a puzzle!" He halted suddenly, causing me to collide with his back with an 'oomph.' "Why did you stop?" I inquired as he helped me up.
"You've been yelling at me to stop for three minutes straight," he remarked, flashing the trademark Hawthorne grin, his eyes gleaming.
"I know, but in the middle of the hallway?" I protested, but he wasn't paying attention; instead, he was gazing out the window.
"Look," he said, walking toward the window. "Gray's heading somewhere."
I joined him, and we observed Grayson making his way to one of the cars in a sharp suit. "He's in his formal meeting suit."
"How can you tell? They all look the same." He looked at me in surprise, and I simply shrugged.
"Girl's intuition."
He crossed his arms. "That's not a thing."
"How do you know?" I teased. When he didn't answer, I turned away from the window. "Come on, let's see what he's up to."
"He's probably going to the foundation or buying more suits. You know how he adores his suits. He likely wants a special new one for the will reading, being the heir apparent and all," he said, joining me by the window.
"Don't be mean, Jae. He probably has something important to do."
"Wanna bet on it?" I turned to him, grinning.
"What does the winner get?"
"Well, my dear Cal, it's more about what the loser gets," he said, resting his arm on my shoulder.
"What are you thinking?" I shrugged off his arm.
"What am I not thinking?"
"Just tell me!"
"Fine, the loser has to help Xan with his robots."
"Deal, and only because I want to see you lose an eyebrow or maybe even a toe or finger!" I said, opening the front door.
"Let's see who's right, shall we?"
"We shall." I smiled and ran over to Grayson, with Jameson following closely behind. "Gray!"
"Oh, hello Lina," he greeted, smiling at me and nodding at Jameson.
"We were just wondering where you're off to."
"The will reading has been postponed for weeks-"
"Oh, because they couldn't get ahold of someone," Jameson interrupted.
"Avery Kylie Grambs. I'm going to inform her of the reading and make sure she gets here," Grayson said, narrowing his eyes at Jameson.
"Okay, well, we won't keep you any longer," I said, noticing Grayson growing annoyed with
Jameson. "So, eyebrows or toes?" I asked once we were far enough away.
"I think I'd look cool with four toes," he said, grinning.
