As soon as the car had stopped moving, I nudged Kaiden to open the door, which he did, before I flung myself out of the car, racing towards the front door of the building. I wanted to be as far away as possible from them.

I hadn't even spared a moment of my time to see if any of them had been quick enough to get out of the car. "Clara" I stopped, my hand clasping the cold, rusting door handle. I didn't dare turn around to look at Cameron, rather wanting him to leave me the fuck alone.

I didn't respond back but I didn't move a muscle all the same. "We can't just leave you alone, here in this apartment without mom and dad" he sounded exhausted, but I didn't care. He hadn't been here to put up with the changing emotions from the people who are supposed to look after you and care about you.

"Plus, we haven't gotten anywhere to stay for tonight" Ethan mumbled, but it was loud and clear enough for me to heart it from where I was standing. "Well, your not staying here" and with that, I stormed off, slamming the creaky door behind me. I knew that Marilyn had finished up for the night, but I was surprised to see a light still on behind the desk.

"Mar?" I questioned, softly. I hated not knowing what was going on; I needed some sort of focal point in my life to keep me going, and this, this all threw everything off the rails. "Oh, hello Clara, my dear. How was work?"

I sighed in relief that it was her, not anyone else. I didn't want someone else to be witness to what could happen in a matter of moments. "Yeah it was good" was all I said, as Marilyn busied herself with the files I had seen her going through.

"What are you looking for, Mar?" I questioned, trying to get a closer peak, as I had seen the name Campbell come up a couple of times. "Oh, your mother asked for some files about the apartment. Would you mind taking these up for her?" I nodded, before saying my goodbyes and was on my way up the stairs before I heard the creaky, front door open.

"Clara, please let us talk" Kaiden huffed out, clearly chasing after me in the cold weather. I just shook my head, hoping he wouldn't follow. "You are talking" I hesitated a little on the steps, as I heard the front door open again, but I didn't dare stop.

Cause if I did, I would see the big brother that had promised to be there with me, every step of the way. He said he wouldn't ever leave me alone, promising to fight off the boys that even dared to look at me while holding me when I couldn't sleep.

He was there for everything, before my everything became his nothing.
