Despite the fact that there were no cameras in the room that you knew of you were now somewhat hesitant to get too close to Moon after the earlier conversation with your future coworker, Moon took notice of this new behavior and became quite noticeably concerned, giving you an odd look when he sat beside you and you didn't lean against him, both of your hands resting in your lap instead of somewhere on his arm or shoulder, you simply offered him a smile before turning away to focus in on a video playing on your phone "I don't mind you know" Moon muttered, absentmindedly fiddling with the ribbons on his wrists "don't mind what?" You asked, having to wait a minute for Moon to put together a response since he didn't seem to expect the question "your attention...it doesn't bother me" he finally answered, you sighed softly and paused your video, looking up at Moon "I know Moon, I'm more worried about what other's might think...more so what Sun might think" you muttered
"What do you mean by that?" Moon questioned
"I mean I don't want them to think that I'm interested in you...like romantically...I don't want to hurt Sun" you explained, Moon looked down towards his hands, oddly seeming somewhat hurt by that statement "oh...o-of course...I'm sorry" he practically whispered in a tone which sent a small shock of pain into your heart making you have to mentally rationalize that you'd done the right thing as Moon slowly got up and headed out to the platform "where are you going?" You asked, earning no response as the animatronic simply lowered himself down into the daycare and disappeared off into the play structure somewhere, leaving you spiralling with your thoughts as you wondered what exactly he was upset about if anything and why you felt as though you'd made a mistake, you convinced yourself that he was just trying to give you space and focused back in on your phone

---pov change---

There wasn't anything there to begin with, the two of you barely knew each other, so why did this feel like rejection, Moon's processor worked overtime trying to comprehend some emotion which he couldn't identify, it wasn't an unfamiliar one, he'd felt it before, a long time ago, something immature, sort of petty... jealousy, jealous of what? He wondered, finding some nook to wedge himself into as he continued to think, jealous of Sun? Certainly not, after all what did Sun have that he didn't?, Same body, same abilities, similar job, What could possibly make y/n like him more-
Oh...
so it was Sun...more specifically his relationship with y/n, but why? Moon didn't know y/n personally, not like Sun did anyway, he had no grounds to be building these intrusive emotions on, he had only just begun to trust them after... seeing them through Sun's eyes, the realization hit Moon in an instant, in the process of scanning all of Sun's memories of y/n he had effectively experienced meeting them, getting to know them, and falling in love with them all through the eyes of his friend creating this sort of illusion of deep emotional connection which simply wasn't present on y/n's end, not yet anyway
He mentally punched himself in the arm for even thinking that, no, not yet not ever, they were happy with Sun and Sun was happy with them, it would be cruel of him to force his way between them
Once his mental conflict had been somewhat resolved or at the very least processed, Moon returned to his room, intending to apologize to y/n only to find them asleep yet again their phone clutched loosely in their hand with a video still playing on the small screen, he lowered himself onto the floor beside them, removing the device from their hand and shutting it off before draping a blanket over them, reaching to rub their cheek but stopping himself, pulling his hand back and slumping against the wall to wait for morning
