Marta let out a load groan when the light from outside the huge windows met her irises. She had just woken from a nap, only to realize that a nasty migraine waited for her upon her awake. She grabbed the hem of her blanket and pulled it over her head with another loud and frustrated groan. With her eyebrows furrowed she grabbed her phone to check for the time. The blinding light of the cellphone let her grimace her entire face in a painful frown when she realized she had napped for an entire hour. There was no way she would be able to leave the bedroom and get some food, but her stomach grumbled and she really needed a snack. But with the dizziness that came with the migraine she would just collapse.
"Sebastian?" she carefully asked into the empty room after putting her head out from the blanket again. Her boyfriend was at home, the warm sheet next to her evidence that he had been napping together with her. But now his side of the bed was empty and she didn't know where he was. Footsteps echoed from the hallway of their shared apartment before the man, she had fallen in love with years ago, opened the door to the bedroom.
"Hey baby. You called?" he asked. When he saw her furrowed eyebrows and the look of total exhaustion and pain on her face he rushed to her side of the bed and kneeled next to her. His big hands cupped her face and looked at her with concern.
"What's wrong?" he added.
"Migraine." Marta whispered before closing her eyes. The room was too bright and the headache already felt like someone was playing the drums right behind her eyes.
"Oh no. But you just had a nap?" she heard his voice, slightly higher than usual. He was confused. She could hear it. After all these years she could read him like an open book and vice versa.
"I know. I don't understand it either. It just hurts so much, Sebby."
"Oh baby." He mouthed before placing a tender kiss on her forehead. His thumbs were gently drawing circles on her temples in an attempt to help her with the pain.
Marta hummed in appreciation and leaned into his touch.
"I'll go and get you some water, a snack and an advil to help with the pain."
"Uh-huh." The pain increased and she couldn't answer him properly. He had already seen it by the big wrinkles on her forehead while she was furrowing her eyebrows again. Her lips were parted as if she was silently begging for release. Her head lulled to the side and if he hadn't his hands still on her cheeks she would probably fall to the side.
"Oh shit." Sebastian whispered and carefully placed Marta's unconscious body on the mattress again. He secured her head on the pillow and placed the warm blanket over her body again. Another look to check if she was fine and he rushed out of the room to grab a bottle of water and an advil. He also grabbed a bowl in case she needed to vomit after waking up again. He was used to this by now although her migraine had become better over the last years.
