"Have you tried Tinder yet? Or Bumble? Believe me, online dating is so much easier than meeting someone in real life, Buck." Sam was annoying him for months now to finally go on dates again. Telling him that he needs to get over this and finally fully dive into his new life. Friends and Dates including.

Not that he ever wanted mentioned that he wanted to date someone again. Or that it was necessary for him to enjoy his new life.

The last person Bucky was willing to spend the rest of his enhanced life with, left him when he needed them the most. That's why it was not really tempting even leave his apartment and met random people. Not that he was actually willing to trust someone again. Sam was an exception, he had proven himself trustworthy, even when he was the most annoying person Bucky had ever accepted in his life.

"I don't want to online date," he answered in an annoyed grumble.

Sam had invited him to a steak house for lunch and who was he to say no to a free meal, especially when it was that expensive. He'd gone for a good rip-eye, much to Sam's dislike, but he said he'd pay the bill, so Bucky took this opportunity to make sure, Sam wouldn't try again to force him out of his apartment against his will.

Some days he wished that that purple weirdo would never come and infiltrated Wakanda, because then he'd still live in peace on his little goat farm and harvest potatoes, onions and green beans.

Ignoring Sam's ongoing blah blah about how a social life was important for happiness, Bucky missed the quiet of Wakanda a bit more every second.

The waitress came to bring Sam the garlic butter that was missing for his steak. A young woman, probably in her early 30s, with strong eye shadow and green eyes that were shining with some sort of sadness. It was captivating Bucky more than he'd liked to confess and he wanted to hear the stories behind the sadness.

Unfortunately, Sam didn't miss the way Bucky looked at the waitress.

"Why don't you ask her for her number?" He grinned at Bucky.

"She's probably married anyway."

"No ring, Buck."

"A beautiful woman like her is pretty sure taken. I will not embarrass myself just because you think my life is better when I'm not alone anymore."

"Oh come oooooon, Bucky. Just give it a try."

Bucky was rolling his eyes on Sam, not wanting to deal with his face any longer. He was longing for a cozy afternoon on the couch with one of the new books he had bought himself in that tiny little book store he passed on his last walk through his neighborhood in Brooklyn. Nothing looked like back in the 40s, but no matter how much he was looking for apartments somewhere else, Brooklyn was still the closest to home he had ever felt.
