What Shinobu saw was that a demon was about to attack a human boy, which was an ordinary situation for someone like her, so she set to work.

Her thoughts ended abruptly when she was in proximity of the female demoness.
She suddenly appeared behind the demon, kicking the demon down to the ground and pulling her hair so she could put her purple-edged sword to the demon's neck.
She glared at the demon, the anger that she had been swallowing since Kanae's death bubbling back up in her throat like the medicine that cured stomach ache.
The demon thrashed in Shinobu's clutches, her frail wrinkled Yukata slipping down her shoulder.
"NEZUKO !" The boy opposite Shinobu yelled, it looked like he wasn't wounded, maybe he could join the corps.
'Nezuko must be her name then...' Shinobu thought. 'It seems that they must be siblings. Oh well.' Shinobu tilted her head in anger, her pity showing ever so slightly on her face, like a crack of emotion peering out from a sea of nothingness.
The boy started crying, his head bowing down to touch the snow. "PLEASE! I BEG OF YOU !" "DONT KILL NEZUKO PLEASE..!" Shinobu looked at him, the same smile plastered across her face.
"I have to, my dear. I'm part of the demon slayer corps, it is my duty." She said, her eyes closing to fold into a small smile. She angled the sword to Nezuko's neck and was about to take her life when the boy took his hatchet and began to swing. Her eyes widened in shock, she had never come across someone who so openly defied her.
Her eyes narrowed in anger as she struck the boy straight on the head, him falling unconscious. "Hm." She said. The girl suddenly flew out of her clutches and got into a battle stance in front of of the boy. ' she's... protecting him..?' Shinobu thought in shock.
A couple hours later, Tanjiro woke up. He found a letter that read,
Dear child, i see that the demon that you claim to be your sister is quite different than most.she protected you, even though you were bleeding. Take yourself and her to a trainer and join the corps. I've made a muzzle for her, make sure she doesn't go out in the sunlight.
