Drenched Trench Coat

It started to rain, I ran underneath the gigantic tree that is my mother, sitting on the grass, my back up against the bark, the leaves shielding me from being pelted by rain. Even though I'm always here and Dream is somewhere else, I'm always glad he doesn't get caught up in the rain. He was invited over for some baked treats along with his friend Ink, of course no one inviting me; except for my brother. I always tell him that someone has to look after mother and for him to go have fun.

I shuddered from the cold, the rain coming down through the leaves every now and then.
Out of nowhere a jacket falls onto my shoulders, it was all tattered and torn, like it's been through many battles, but it was comfortable.
A glitched skeleton sitting near me, but not too close, he sat a few feet away. I looked over to him, but not for too long, only observing the details that stuck out: blue marks that ran down his face, the crimson multicolored eye sockets, 'the error' signs and glitches fading in and out of existence. I swiftly turned my head back, not wanting to be caught staring.
I couldn't help but trace the seams sewn into the fabric, rolling the thread between my fingers that hung down from certain spots where it was patched up.
Tears silently filled my sockets, hiding my face in my hands, slumping into a fetal position. I felt safe, I don't know why; was it all because of this single tender act? My soul wanting to shed the weight that's been building up deep inside me, and so I did.

I let him be, only he knows how long he's been holding it in; and by the looks of it, it seemed like a long time. I looked out over the village.
His silent cries turned into sobbing. I grabbed my knitting supplies through a small portal, and so I started to silently knit to pass the time.
It wasn't long until he had cried himself to sleep.
Looking over I put my things down, scooting a little closer to him, slowly and carefully putting my hand on his head. My glitches started to buzz and so I quickly pulled my hand away. I let the glitches calm down, reaching for his head again, but instead carefully pulling the circlet off his head. I rubbed my thumb across the crown, chips and nicks all over.
I put the crown next to him. Fixing the jacket that had slightly slipped off of him.

After an hour or two it started to clear up, I looked up, water droplets from the leaves above dripping onto my glasses. I took this as my queue to leave, placing a chocolate bar within the circlet
I picked up all my knitting supplies and made a pixelated portal back to the place I call home. I looked back at the small one laying in the grass, I'll just have to get my jacket back some other time, or just make another.

I opened my eyes, sitting up,the jacket sliding off of me. I picked it up, I couldn't help but put it on. It had a very intense smell of  chocolate. It was sweetly sickening, but oddly, I didn't mind. I looked around, noticing my crown, picking it up and placing it back atop my head
I stood up, wondering where this mysterious person went...it wouldn't hurt to look around for them..would it? I'm sure Dream won't mind me going off.

"Dream, this is bad." Ink showed me the thick blue string and wrapped chocolate bar. "Listen Dream, if you spot anything like this you should let me know immediately. The owner of these objects is extremely dangerous."
"Then what are we going to do?"
"You're not gonna do anything, I'll take care of it. I've had many run ins with this person."
"Wait where's Nightmare?" I couldn't help but panic, "Ink, we need to find him!"

"Nightmare! There you are! You had me so worried!" I ran to Nightmare hugging him. I noticed the new piece of clothing on my brother. "What's this?" I asked picking up one side of the coat. Before he could answer Ink caught up. "Phew...Wow you're fast!" He had his hands on his knees bending over, catching his breath. When he finally did he looked up, when he saw Nightmare he seemed shocked and surprised. "How'd you get that jacket?!"
"O-Oh, well when it started to rain someone came and gave it to me."
"Do you know who gave it to you?"
"Well, I don't know who, but he was all glitchy, with these blue marks that came out from his red sockets." "Those beautiful crimson sockets." I muttered
"Well Dream, I need to get going! Cya later!"
"Wait!" I watched as he melted into an ink puddle before he heard me. I sighed, "I'm just happy you're safe brother, I don't really know what's going on. But let's hope everything turns out ok!"

I popped out into the anti-void, leaving a puddle below me.
"What do you want squid! I'm busy!" He hung in his strung up hammock
"Oh yeah? Busy doing what?" But it was clear to me what he was doing, fiddling with the needles and threads in his hands.
"Busy making a new jacket. Now get lost so I can concentrate."
"Well what happened to the other one?" Error took a quick glance at me before he responded, it looked like he was thinking before he said anything, I swear I saw a slight blush.
"I lost it, it was all ripped up anyways so I didn't bother looking for it. Plus I needed a new one anyways."
"Mhm, riiight. Well I was hanging out with my friend and his brother has a little something of yours."
"If it's the jacket I told you I had lost it, anyone could've picked it up."
"Well, cya around!" I made a small salute while falling backwards into the ink puddle; ending back up in Dreamtale.
"Hey Dream! Turns out it's not all that important than I thought!" I pat his back
"But I think everything is gonna be just fine."
