Chapter 31: Damian

All my questions were answered. I am pregnant. I am bearing the billionaire's child. I am bearing his little one. Eros's son. I stared blankly on the sonogram on my hands. What should I feel? What am I supposed to feel? To do now? I'm going to be a mother! How am I going to face this challenge?

Is this a challenge?

Am I ready? Am I capable of being a mother? what if I fail? What if I disappoint my child? Will I be a good mom to him? Or her?! What am I supposed to do?! Hindi ako handa sa ganito! Hindi!

My lips trembled as I held my tummy, tinignan ko ang repleksyon sa salamin. Magulo at basa ang buhok, dry lips and swollen eyes. I didn't know I cried. Umangat ang kamay ko patungo sa mukha ko. It's okay right? I'm okay. I can literally do this!

Sa gitna ng magulo at maingay na tao sa paligid ko, ramdam ko ang pag bagsak ng katawan ko sa sahig. I can only hear the shouts, the panic of the people. My vision started getting blurred. The last scene I remember is I saw a familiar face of a man. But it was clearly not Eros. Para akong nalagutan ng hininga. Abot tahip ang puso ng magising, linibot ko ang paningin.

I saw the white paint on the wall, quotes. Tv, couch. Table. Hospital gown, and IV.

"Oh god! Are you okay?" Ang mata ko ay unti unting napa baling sa lalaking nasa kanan ko. "Jeremy." He look so worry of me, but I couldn't mind him. I touched my stomach and feel it. "My..." I look down my stomach. "My baby, Jeremy? I-is he okay?"

"He?"

"Uhm well, the baby is fine. You passed out because of stress, they advised you to take a bed rest. Don't worry, I have everything fix." I nodded and smile sadly, " I thought I was gonna die..."

"That won't happen, mabuti na lang nandoon ako. You shouldn't stress yourself out. That's not good." I nodded, "salamat hah? Maraming salamat." I got home from the hospital with the help of Jeremy and his mom. His mom is an ob. She told me everything I needed, from vitamins to proper way of maintaining my health and the baby. I took a leave from work. I received a call from him but he didn't talk.

He was just there, sighing heavily. It could be my chance to tell him but I couldn't. I'm scared! The next day I'm eating with Jeremy on my condo when my phone rang. I excused myself from Jeremy and went inside the kitchen. "Yes hello?" I heard him sigh. "Can I ask?" I froze as I heard his voice for the first time in almost 2 weeks of not talking. "Yeah."

"After party, I got drunk right? In any case, did I... Did I do something?" Oh he couldn't remember? Dapat nga bang malaman pa n'ya? "Wala." I decided no to tell him, when it was the last day of my sick leave. I have decided to end it, pumirma ako ng breach contract noon. Handa akong mag bayad maka alis lang sa kompanya nya. I heard he's out of the town, I know it was impossible for me to resign right? Kinuha ko na lang lahat ng gamit ko. I gave Ate Ice the resignation letter and the money.

I left. I never look behind. With the help of Jeremy and his boyfriend–yeah, found out Jeremy has the same taste as me. He isn't gay, but he has a boyfriend. And he loves him so much. He is Andrew. A very kind person, he help me through my pregnancy journey.

It was hard for me, ang natitira kong pera ay kinailangan kong ipadala sa Mama para sa gamot n'ya at ng Papa. I started earning money through painting. The couple gladly help me until I gave birth.

"A boy! Congratulations!" I thought I wasn't ready. But as soon as I saw him, I felt contented. I never felt this full in my life. From Canada we moved from LA. I smiled as I touches my son's face. He got everything from him, from his eyes. To lips, brows and skin toned.

"Happy birthday Damian!" It's his 3rd birthday and we're all happy. "Happy birthday kiddo!" Drake greeted my son. Drake is a good friend and a boss of mine. He is Andrew's close cousin. He owns a construction and architectural firm here and Andrew recommended me. At first it was hard for me to get in, mataas ang standard ng kompanya at pakiramdam ko hindi ko yun na abot. But still I made it!

"Mimi ice cweam!" I chuckled and poked my son's nose. "Baby, you've been eating sweets. It's not so good for you little baby," he pouted his lips kaya lumitaw ang dimple nya. I couldn't take my son's cuteness! "Ate Anna, do we have an ice cream pa ba?" Ate Anna nodded, "opo ma'am, papakainin po?" I look at my son pouting, controlling himself from smiling. I smiled and mess his hair. "Sige ate pero ka onti lang ha, ah ate. Lalabas ako ngayon at may ka meeting akong client. Ikaw na ang bahala sa bulilit ha?"

"Copy ma'am! Yakang yaka ko yan!" She chirped and my son laugh at her.

Totoo nga pala talaga yon, napaka bilis pala talaga ng oras. Time flies so fast. My son grew up beautifully. "Damian is turning 5 next week! What are the plans? Jeremy is coming here!" I smiled at my best friend. Excited na excited to sa pag pa plano ng birthday celebration ng anak ko, excited pa s'ya kaysa kay Damian eh. Tsk.

"Hmm, actually parang gusto ko kami lang muna ang mag celebrate." His smile slowly faded, hinampas ako nito. Natatawa naman akong uminom sa tasa. "Hindi kase! Don't get me wrong! Like I just wanted to have alone time with him! Intimate celebration! Kumbaga kami lang muna! But you can barrow him and isama sa date nyo ni Jeremy!" I laughed.

"Oh? Omg! Sinabi mo na yan ha! I will bring him with us sa Disneyland!" My eyes widen. "Huh? Disneyland? Ang layo naman non! I can't stay away from my son that long ha!" Reklamo ko na kina irap nya. "Sis, we can go home naman. Uwian lang din gan'on." Wow!

"Wow grabe, galante ka kase no? Tsk. Bahala ka! Oh s'ya sige, uuwi na ako!" I left him there sa Cafe. I went home and saw my son on our living room playing. "I got donuts with mee!" I think I startled him. But then, he ran towards the door upon hearing and seeing me. He welcome me with warm hug and kisses.

"Wow you're the best mom! Thank you!" I am now contented with my life. I think it was the best choice and decision I made. I have my dreams fulfilled while earning money for my family and son. And it is enough for me.
