"Great. This is all your fault," Katiya hissed, crossing her arms. "Thanks a lot, skxawng."

"It was my pleasure," Aonung replied sarcastically, rolling his eyes as he wiped away the remaining bread pieces.

Katiya shook her head in disbelief and turned away. Aonung watched her go, a smirk on his face as he followed her. He wasn't sorry at all for what had happened.

She refused to look back at him, her shoulders tense with anger. She knew he had done it on purpose and she didn't want to give him the satisfaction of seeing her reaction.

However, Aonung followed her, still smirking, enjoying the fact that he had gotten the reaction he wanted.

She hurried forward, determined to put as much distance between them as possible. Aonung's smirk widened as he accelerated his pace, feeling triumphant.

Katiya looked around frantically for an escape route, but it was too late. He was right behind her and there was nowhere to hide.

She stopped, resigned to her fate. Fuck him and his stupid long legs.

"Stop following me," she hissed, turning around and jabbing her finger at his chest.

Aonung stepped back, but he just couldn't take his eyes off her. Katiya glared at him, her face a mix of rage and frustration. She turned and started walking away, her footsteps heavy on the sand.

Aonung quickly stepped forward, catching up with her. He grabbed her arm and spun her around, forcing her to look into his eyes.

Katiya blinked in confusion.

Aonung was at a sudden loss for words. He said nothing, but the intensity in his gaze spoke for him.

Something felt different from the moment they almost faced death in the jungle together. He couldn't explain it, but something had changed between them.

He wanted to say something, argue back at her, but the words wouldn't come out. He stood there, staring at her, feeling a strange sense of longing.

Katiya looked at him, her eyes searching his as if she were trying to figure out what he was thinking.

"Aonung."

Katiya jumped at Meyta's voice, breaking the tension between them. Immediately, Aonung released Katiya's arm and they turned to face Meyta.

"Meyta, hey," he said, clearing his throat and running his fingers through his hair.

"Um, Rotxo needs you. He's been crying for fifteen minutes and won't tell anyone why," Meyta informed, concern evident in her voice.
